Iran arrests members of a "terrorist group": report

TEHRAN, Apr. 20, 2010 (Reuters) — Iran said on Tuesday it had arrested members of an extremist group in the west of the country who had planned to carry out "terrorist attacks" in the Islamic state, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said the group, identified and arrested by the Intelligence Ministry, was armed and guided by American forces, IRNA reported.

Mohammad-Najjar did not identify the group or say whether those detained belonged to Kurdish separatist groups, based in mountainous areas close to the borders with Iraq and Turkey.

................

Iranian officials often accuse the United States and Israel of supporting "terrorists." The United States dismisses such allegations.

Full Story

If they really did catch any groups that are backed by American forces, it really wouldn't be good. I still can't understand why ever since WWII the US has done nothing but stick it's nose into every other countries business in the world.

If you want to know why so many countries hate the US, or at least have serious issues with us, this is a big reason.

Its the anglo american empire mentaility, to want to go in and destroy anything they want.

Its the british and americans who feel the need to do this.

Do not know about this story, but alot is going on we do not know about. Like why is usa still in countries like korea, japan and europe. Europe can look after itself, why do usa have troops in europe?

Makes you wonder why they are here. Plus i would assume the japanese feel the same way, why are they there too?

Well, after the Japenese surrendered, they could not have a standing army, just like ther Germans. The German and Japenese armies that exist today are very limited as they are meant to be a 'defense force'. Japan rather depends on America for its protection beacuse of this.

Also, it is cheaper for them. You don't have to spend money on a military if you have someone to back you up.

I think europe is more than able to take care of its own countries, and i doubt the reason(although i understand your thinking there), is why they are still there.

Ron paul thinks is an empire and so do i. Anglo american empire has presence in how many countries around teh world now?

Also how many underground bases are run by america in these countries?

They always say it was funded by American miltary forces but NEVER show proof... Just like the hikers are spies and the Moque bombing last year was an American job.

I really hope they clean the clock of that Iranian administration soon.

Yeah, because Kurdish minorities in Iran wouldn't have any reason to have a problem with the Mullahs, would they? Not unless the big, bad U.S. told them they did...

I wouldn't put something like this past us (reported dealings with Jundallah come to mind) but I'm going to need more than the unsubstantiated word of an unnamed Iranian official before I'll take it as gospel. Thanks to my own government, I have a pretty decent b.s. meter.

The same is true for the US too. How many old outdated pictures did the US show of supposed "proof" Iraq, and Saddam Hussein had of chemical weapons plants and storage facilities. None were ever found.
New stories are appearing every day about Iranian missile capabilities, and nuclear capabilities. No one has shown any proof Iran poses a direct immediate threat to the US.

It's a political game that is being played on both sides.

Several clocks need to be cleaned in my opinion.

The difference is most people in the U.S. knew then and now (at least I hope) that Colin Powell got hoodwinked into sitting before the security council with those photos and his little vial. We all know it was an exagerated fabrication of sorts and dismissed it as such - still didn't stop the White House from using it as an excuse to go to war, but we knew...

When Iran makes the same type of unsubstantiated claims, there are a ton of people, not just on this site but all over, who immediately jump on it and use it to justify claims of American imperialism without a second thought, or necessity of proof.

Let's just say that if the number of people who typically buy into this Iranian nonsense bought into the Iraqi WMD illusion, Bush's "coalition of the willing" would've included the entire armed forces capability of the U.N. - we would've had to have a raffle to see who got to go play in Baghdad...

You know it doesn't seem to matter who is President, every few weeks they capture or kill the #2 man in Al-Quida. This is really getting old. It seems obvious you can't kill everyone who wishes you ill. It's time to quit and come home.
