Government regulates hunting for good reason. Too much and species go extinct, too little and species that have lost their natural predators will
reproduce and eventually starve themselves due to overpopulation
2 good cases in North America of over-hunting are the Heath Hen and the Passenger Pigeon, both of which are extinct as a result.
People do hunt animals to extinction, which is why the government now regulates who can kill what, and how many you can kill. Some game species are
actually managed for sustainable harvest, though this can only work by regulating the hunting.
