Good show, what I caught of it anyway.

Would you all consider moving this to a mid-week night?

It would do better IMO.

Perhaps the debate moderator needs to bring a stop-watch next week.

I'm sure the intent was to cover several subjects, but that's the thing about the topics we discuss here at ATS. None of them are easy, and if they could be figured out in ten minutes they wouldn't be worth exploring to begin with.

The speakers were sincere, blood pressure elevated, and the battle was fierce. I think if you work on the variety department a little, it'll be a hit.

doh...edit to add the word "the"

I'll comment more...

I really wish you and this show success, because it is refreshingly entertaining, occasionally dramatic, captivating, interesting and has a great cast of regular characters, and some of the most fascinating people on this planet the members of ATS.

Also you are a natural, your voice and accent are perfect and no matter what you should continue doing this in some form. You must have some professional broadcast experience, don't you?

I listen to radio a lot on the road, and I can tell you this show has all of the right elements to keep me tuned in. If I could tune this in on my XM I would.

Looking forward to your next show.

ok, something that confused me.

ya'll started talking about this thread

2.5 mil. dead in US, who needs terrorists.

Did I miss something but you all went into a conversation about people committing suicide and never even mentioned that the OP was about genetically modified food.

I will have to listen to the rebroadcast.

We took a left down Tangent Boulevard, into What Were We Talking About Street, threw a right onto Where The Hell are We Going Avenue and then diverted via 5th and Irrelevance to get back to the topic we were previously talking about.

Car crash radio - you start the engine, rev it up, get it going and take your hands off the wheel. You never know where its going to end up, how its going to stop and who is gonna get hurt

Sometimes that's the best way.

I know most listeners are from the US, but as the show ends at 3 AM in Europe (the reason why I never listen to the last hour), moving it to a mid-week day would make it more difficult for people in Europe to listen and participate.

It would also mean that the show would be made during the morning (from 9 AM to 12, if I am not mistaken) of a mid-week day for those in Australia.

Just gonna throw this out there Neph. I may be way off base, but...
Even though I see you strive to bring in Mods from all over the world, both male and female..the topics being discussed have more or less revolved more around US politics, and not so much conspiracies..even though Springer threw in a bit of an illuminatti reference as to who really runs the US and big corp.
For those of us who are not from the US, this does get tiresome after awhile. While we DO have an interest in what goes on with the war on terrorism, and it does certainly have it's place as a main topic of discussion...perhaps you guys could expand more into other conspiracies that we see on the site.
Just my 2 pennies.

From what I heard i thought it was a great show, Nef was a great presenter.

It occasionally felt like a bit of an ATS love in and maybe a too many panelists, it was difficult to tell who was speaking at times.

could of done with covering more controversial topics, stick to just a few and run with them.

the stories about ATS at the begining was fascinating stuff.

Keep up the good work

OK...the show is now on the media portal.
I've split the whole thing into 4 parts - the original file was over 100MB in size!
The first part has the pre-live music on it, so you might want to jump in 10-12 mins to get to the actual show.

Edit to add - this is the warts and all "live" version, including the technical problems - just to give you the full experience...

Show Part1
Show Part2
Show Part3
Show Part4

Enjoy, and please, keep the comments coming. We are listening and we want to keep you guys happy

Downloadable Podcast versions available here

In accordance with Creative Commons attribution, the Artists and tracks you heard on the show tonight in order were;

The Flowmeters - So Inspired (During the pre-live stream)
Tryad - Struttin'
Farmertan - England Needs a Hand
SDog - Cradle
5 State Killing Spree - Higher
MMO - Textual Healing
Sue Kittasorn - Velvet Sky
TAB - Down the Rabbit Hole
Amnesiac - Breathe
Illustrial - Military Indistrial Complex

Nef thanks for the opportunity last night.

I do have a suggestions however.

Perhaps expand on the idea eventually and have more intimate shows, two or three members and a mod, with callers.

It could be a recurring show with certain members, like a team show, like we get on the radio in the morning, that sort of thing.

You know, scheduled programming. It would widen the audience and you could probably work it out to have somebody on the air all the time, increasing our visibility.

Thanks 10th

We're still proving (and sometimes failing) the technology. There is no other way to do it except in a live situation, so we're being as interactive as we can be right now.

As things grow, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised. Right now though we're sticking to the current format for at least another month to get comfortable with it all. Being live isn't easy

Your welcome.

I certainly understand you all wanting to get the kinks worked out before attempting anything "new" with it. It certainly is quite great. Although my idea was certainly meant to be in a live setting as well.

I just don't know how your live studio works, it seemed to me like it was just over skype, but I don't really know.

Skype works for the virtual studio and the calls, but the music and the queing is done through a seperate piece of software that links out to the broadcast media server. Skype is patched into it through a virtual mixing desk.

Skype is a resource hog when a lot of people are in a call, so running it along with other applications gets a bit....twitchy..... at times. Last night it wouldn't hold the calls properly, and what you didn't hear ('cause the music was playing!) was frantic repatching/buffering of sound banks and trying to get the studio back up and running to take calls.

Its all good fun, and makes for cool shows, 'cause we don't know how its gonna end up

Ohh ok, yeah I could see how that would be complicated from an IT standpoint.

Skype is amazing, but doesn't really do well if it needs to be "patched" into another program or work in a dynamic environment.

Perhaps Skype Pro would do better as it's more business oriented?

It's a smart, low cost model for you guys though, which is great. Keep up the good work.

I love the show but I notice the pleas for more variety and thought the following might be an interesting idea.

Why not have a block of the show every week, lets say half an hour, with rotating FSME from different forums where you guys and the callers can pick their brains on their particular area of expertise and discuss the latest developments in their forum. I realize that a lot of the staff are also FSME so you don't even necessarily need to bring in other FSME members should they be unavailable or not wishing to participate. It's more to have a weekly focus for a part of the show onto the goings on of specific forums.

Just thinking out loud ...

Listening to the rest of the show now. The PODcast is a great idea for those who either cannot be awake at that time or who can't sit still for 3 hours.
Thanks for that!

Love the ideas that are coming up, especially speaker identification and several more topics, but then again, I like the idea of a show every once in a while that just covers one topic.

Sorry if I broke Skype last night!
Hope to do better next time.

Great job, everyone!

I think that the podcast is going to be a huge success. Quality is ever present and for myself, I for one like to listen in the background while I browse and read the many postings. It is also a good way to pickup on ATS postings that I may not have read had I not been tipped off by someone commenting that it was about something I was not even aware of.

Overall, I think it is going to be a useful tool for saying abreast while not being able to sit at the keyboard and read the ATS postings. The podcast allows me to do things around the house and still pickup on what is being said. This for me is a good capability that I will enjoy.

Great addition. Thanks again.
