Pretty freaky image! Reminded me of the 911 smoke pictures! I am suprised that this image is not front page on everything at this point, given the world wide interuption experienced so far. I do not think it is over, I am not claiming world destruction, but I do think that there is more to come, including the resurrection of Katla

edit to fix silly spelling error

No activity for Eyja as I can see on this cam.

On Hvolt I think we only see clouds. If it was an eruption we would see a rolling effect while here the coulds keep their forms and just move from left to right. My guess of course as from this kind of distance hard to judge.

Have to look at Hvosvelli. It's actually relatively active at the moment but the plume is being forced down by those clouds we've been talking about.

Look in the center, just above the house. Those very dark "clouds" between the top cloud layer and the mountain, from the center of the screen to the right are actually the plume.

Before the sun came up, we were watching a very lively fireworks show right in the middle, where the plume originates. Can't see it now that the sun is up but there's definitely hot stuff going on in there.

I just wish I knew how to attach the image to the post rather than just a link to it.

Quakewatcher.
I think you are right.

It really looks like something is coming out there. Black stuff is moving too fast up to be a cloud and it rolls from left to right. Clearly visible now.

At which volcano are we looking at?
Is this Katla or another one?

Everyone is watching Eyja via Hvolsvelli or Vahalnuk cams - Katla is not showing any outward signs of activity.

Yep, although over the last few days they've changed the view a couple of times. To the right there's a wee map with a red dot - that's where the camera is located

Underneath the webcam it also says:

"RUV monitoring of Katla in cooperation with the NCIP and Almannavarnadeild miles"

Those clouds on Hvolsvelli are weird, never seen formations like that before, just one continuous long stream, looks so much like a plume

Yeah, I think so too, but I've been told by people I respect that it is definitely meteorological

However, still looks like it's "streaming" from the left, doesn't it! Been screaming "PAN LEFT" at the cam!

Latest news:

www.mbl.is...

Katla has no movement at all. Tremors in Eyjafjallajökull were increasing (saw someone posting it just before I got to sleep) but are going down again.

www.mbl.is...

Well the ash cloud is well on its way to Kanada by now, it is lower then airplanes but it could affect them if they have to go through it to go up or down.

Yeah, sure looks like another plume... if it is it's v. big. However, could be the fog clouds being affected by heated air causing shape?

Is it same plume being seen to far right of Hvolsvelli cam I wonder?

Did you see news - volcano is causing Vanuatu to be evacuated....

The Pacific nation of Vanuatu has made plans to evacuate nearly 3,000 villagers after a highly active volcano started spewing ash clouds, an official said on Monday.

The picturesque Gaua volcano, which has erupted 13 times since 1963 and has been exploding and rumbling for several months, is under close watch after a marked rise in activity in recent days.

"It's increasing in activity," said Peter Korisa, planning officer at the National Disaster Management Office. "A few days back a lot of ash clouds were released into the air. The activity isn't stable, it's increasing."
