Janis Sharp said she blamed Jack Straw for pushing through the extradition treaty with the US, under which her son could be sent to face trial.
The mother of computer hacker Gary McKinnon intends to stand in Jack Straw's Blackburn constituency as an independent candidate in the election. Mr McKinnon, 44, from Wood Green, north London, is accused of breaking into the US military computer system. The man, who has Asperger's syndrome, said he was seeking evidence of UFOs. Janis Sharp said she blamed Jack Straw for pushing through the extradition treaty with the US, under which her son could be sent to face trial. The computer systems which Mr McKinnon is accused of breaking into include those at the Pentagon. If convicted, he faces 60 years in prison. His lawyers and family have fought a series of long-running court battles in an attempt to avoid extradition. The judicial review into Mr McKinnon's possible extradition will be heard at the High Court at the end of May.
