As you say, I think there is also another vent. The question is, how is she connected?

I really think there is a new vent - it's not confirmed - but I know what I saw and I'm sticking to it. If it's not a new vent it was the strangest lava flow imaginable.

I've got to play catch-up now with pictures and vids and info.

Looking forward to making some conclusions here with you.

Thank you very much for your concern.
Oh, and I LOVE your avatar!

Funny thing about being out there when it's happening? I don't know if it's the 'big one' or not. I never know. But, I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Thank you so much,

peace

Here's the new vent. Progression of 6 shots in one (obviously).

The 'vent' is not confirmed yet. We'll see. But if it's not a vent it's the 'birth' of something that's for sure!

If you want to go to Rome sure but the airport in Catania? I have no idea if it will be open or no! Usually it shuts down or at least delays when Etna does her 'thing'...

But if you do decide to brave it? Don't forget the marshmallows and weenies! We'll have a roast!

*wink*

Thank you Bob, I'll tell Luci you're sending her a biscuit. As for me no flowers or plane ticket - just glad you like it.

There was a few 3 and 4.3 quakes north on the island this morning. I hope Etna let off enough steam yesterday that it will not effect Her - I don't mind taking photos in the rain a rocks but I don't want to take my camera in the wet rain! So far She's quiet though!

Thanks again Bob...

Amazing photos again Silo!
I started to worry when I saw this new eruption on the news-Glad to see you are safe.
It must be fantastic to be so close to such a power.
Hopefully the ash will do your garden some good when it all soaks in.

I hope you enjoy the video too - and again - that cloud pic? Just for you! I thought of you when I took it. You're the only one I know that loves the clouds like I do! Nice to see you and again, enjoy.

The vulcanologists are telling the news to keep our eyes on Etna after the earth quakes in Palermo this morning. I don't think there's anything to worry about. Just a gut feeling. That and Luci is calm as calm can be... So, until next time!

You out there?

I'm a little freaked out.
Here's why.

This is a TRANSLATION from this link

Mario and Maurizio Sanna Torrealta
Italy is a country prone to earthquakes and three years after the earthquake, L'Aquila, according to three different seismic studies (one of which is produced by Vladimir Kossobokov scientist Russian Academy of Sciences) remains very high possibility that a 'area of 400 km radius, between Calabria and Sicily, could be an earthquake of magnitude 7.5. A much stronger intensity of the earthquake in Aquila. Some experts also insist on the risk that new seismic events can be amplified by the devastation of industrial and chemical ... They are called RIR in technical jargon, an acronym that stands for Major Accident Hazard. The most critical areas are prorpio in Sicily (island historically exposed to earthquakes). And precisely at Milazzo and Priolo (near Augusta). While other countries have in place specific regulations for seismic design of facilities RIR, Italy in the current legislation is insufficient and controls assigned only to managers. That the Environment Committee of the House has tabled a parliamentary question and a resolution as possible to prevent any risk. The investigation tells what the weather, as is happening on any monitoring earthquakes and in what situation faced by the RIR system.

What do your 'triangles' say???

By the way this is the same scientists that was ignored when he predicted the Aquila EQ - rightly so.

Eeekk!!!

Any ideas!?

It is best not to worry. At the moment you do have small ones. One today at 2 or 3
One today
Magnitude: 2.3
Location: Sicily, Italy

Time: Thu, 19 Apr 2012 14:00:44 GMT+01:00
GMT: Thu, 19 Apr 2012 13:00:44 GMT

Latitude: 37° 54' 0" N (37.9000°)
Longitude: 15° 40' 12" E (15.6700°)
Depth: 35.0 km

But these usually come a few days before and after Etna erupts. The pressure is released. There are often small quakes with you and Italy. At the moment I am more worried about Turkey. I do monitor any quakes in your area daily and would let you know if I was worried. Anything around a 4 would be a concern but nothing to panic about.
I will keep an eye on this for you, my phone is with me all the time and alerts me to any quakes that I have requested.
Sleep well
