Mom: Son who threatened Pelosi got radical ideas from Fox News

rawstory.com

t may not be a story you'll hear about if you watch America's "fair and balanced" news network.

In an interview on a California ABC News affiliate, the mother of a man arrested for threatening House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) blamed Fox News for exacerbating her son's mental illness, saying it encouraged his behavior.

"Greg frequently gets in with a group of people that have really radical ideas and that are not consistent with myself or the rest of the family, which gets him into problems," the 83-year-old mother of the accused man, Eleanor Giusti, said. "I say Fox News, or all

More and more this dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric coming from places like FOX News, or various talk radio hosts are not only pushing panic over civil dialogue and comprehension but furthering to incite a group that, thanks to the massive fear-mongering efforts of late, feel a violent conflict is almost inevitable.

Selling this "doomsday" scenario to the public day in and day out could/will have damaging results on the American people as a whole, as the divide continues and people are literally terrified that America is about to be destroyed and their enslavement is imminent.

Fox can't report the facts, because they're on the side of big government and big corporate oligarchs. So they lie, and spout nonsense about welfare bankrupting the economy, government take overs, socialism, hitler, etc.. Anything but the truth. Anything but the truth.

Yeah, since he isn't responisible for his own actions, he has to blame someone, right?

Nothing odd about a son who seems to live with his 81 year old mom, either. I bet he lives in the basement playing violent video games and watching Fox News!

Where are these groups that he hangs with that are from Fox? Now that would be an interesting group to hang out with, huh?

Freedom of speech is alright as long as it is speech you agree with.

AmIright?

Did anyone not see this coming? With all the protests going on, I wish one would form for journalistic integrity and standards. I understand that commentators are not journalists; however, I beyond tired of networks using that title to lie, propagate non factual information, not being responsible for what they say, and not having to actually investigate what they air to be true.

When a network promotes itself as a news network, despite what they wish to call the person delivering the news, there is a responsibility there, or they aught to air a warning prior to the program and keep a tag somewhere on the screen that this person may or may not be telling the truth, it is 100% the opinion of the speaker, and any research or fact checking is the sole responsibility of the viewer. I wonder how many people would watch, if they knew they had to do homework.

Was JFK, Marther Luther King, Ghandi "Mentally Ill?" Instead of handing him over to the NWO police and prejudicing her own son as something SHE doesnt even understand, maybe she should take a step back, look in the mirror and at her own country, and question what his motives were in the first place.

She should be proud her son had the intelligence to stand up for himself, instead of playing XBOX/PS3 games or being enslaved in rap music, and taking a interest in political agenda's. Not belittling him as a sort of monster, then parading that all across the media.

EDIT-Thinking about it, it wouldnt surprise me if this was another Psy-Ops.

I can't stand Fox news in the slightest. However, I have always taken the stand that video games, movies, music, and tv can't insight acts of violence in someone that wasn't predisposed to them already. And if that person is violent and mentally imbalanced then they will find inspiration SOMEWHERE.

We can't blame media and entertainment for crazy.

I feel so dirty for sticking up for Fox....urg. Shower time.

Well to be fair and balanced, it did say that the man had a mental problem.
Now imagine all of Fox viewers having a "Mental Problem"

Oh, he is absolutely responsible for his own actions, and if it turns out he did what he is accused of, he will bare the responsibility for those actions.

I believe in freedom of speech, even that which I don't agree. However, when a network promotes itself as a news network they need to bare the responsibility for what they air.

I think I will sue CNN and MSNBC for emotional distress. For MANY MANY years they have done nothing but lied to me and leaned so far left that I can't seem to understand whats right anymore...they have robbed me of rational thought and used me....its all their fault....I think I'll just ask for an out of court settlement of 500,000,000,000 and call it even.

This story is assisnine and this guy and his mom are obviously both loons...

More like "retard did what he thought the TV told him to do"

Next time some "Son of Sam" looney stabs some people let's just put all the dogs down, right? The dog made him do it after all.

People with different cultural backgrounds often live with the rest of their family. The point of the kids living with the parents is not too mooch off the parent, but to help the parents and support them as they age. It's an act of respect, not a sign of failure.

This was even the norm in this country at one time when kids stayed and worked on the farm or family store with their parents eventually taking over the responsibilities as the parents aged. Though, they would often build nearby homes on the same property.

Yeah that sent shivers down my spine, expecially because the smallest number of their viewers are republicans, and are far outweighed by their democrat viewers.

You're right! I am scared now!

I am thinking in this case with a history of violence and mental illness, his mom was indeed taking care of him, just as she seems to be trying to do in the news story.

This is just wrong!
I mean some of the comments here that is!

I am by no means a Faux News defender, but this is ridiculous.

This is just fuel from the msm to the fire that is partisan bickering.
Divide and Conquer!

They elected Obama to unite the country instead the liberal media is trying to divide it like never before!

Disgusting!

FOX has been linked to this sort of dangerous incitement in the recent past if you recall from last year:

Fox News and its connection to the Pittsburgh cop massacre

Fox News and its connection to the Pittsburgh cop massacre

April 05, 2009 4:24 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

We're learning more and more about the killer who called cops to his apartment in order to execute them on Saturday morning. We're learning that Richard Andrew Poplawski was a right-wing conspiracy nut who was convinced the new Democratic administration was going to take away the guns of Americans.

We've also learned, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that Poplawski was an avid fan of conspiracist and radical talk show host Alex Jones. A "freak" was how the conservative blog Little Green Footballs described Jones today.

Fox News has been playing with radical fire in recent weeks and months. But can it contain the bonfire? Naturally, that doesn't stop Newsbusters from whining about the consequences and insisting that the GOP Noise Machine has no responsibility for the extraordinary hate it's been pushing since January.
Mediamatters

Of course, I'm not saying FOX is endorsing this sort of behavior outright, but the fact is they recklessly play with dangerous rhetoric on a regular basis for the purposes of ratings and continue to repeat statements that predict the end of America and the enslavement of it's citizens under the new President and the Democrats in Congress.

Although a lot of other Conservatives in the media and online have called for riots and civil unrest...including violence against Democrats...FOX prefers the subtle approach of appealing to this group of angry citizens by seemingly endorsing such actions in a more roundabout way.

On a bad day when they aren't even trying, they just slip out odd statements like the one Glenn Beck made about "Obama hating White people".

I suppose that would include the ones that raised him?

Perhaps FOX News uses some sort of mind control technique. It has a very strong group of followers and their numbers are in the millions. Their behaviour reminds me of the..uhm Steven Jobs fanatics,
Sort of cult like in some way.

What happened to personal responsibility? I guess there is none in today's world.

And although I am no fan of Fox News, it is getting rather tiresome seeing 2-3 "FOX NEWS IS THE DEVILZ" articles a day. Really? Is this what this site is about? That's the best people can come up with?

So he's already mentally ill, frequently hangs out with people with radical views, yet FOX News is to blame for this?

More crap from the left trying to paint their opposition in poor light. I am really tired of the polarizing spin.
