I love The Onion! I went to college in Madison, Wisconsin the birthplace of that great satire paper, so I may be a little biased as to defending them, but I think you're missing the point of the piece here.

I think, after watching it, that it was not at all to keep the American people from thinking but instead to poke fun at how absurd it is to call all people against President Obama racists. Notice how the "manefesto" in the piece was postmarked to MSNBC, the network that has been calling so many people racists.

Satire I believe is a great way to start people thinking about politics, just look at how well it worked for people like Voltaire!

Now I get it, frelling UW Madison Grad. Everything makes sense now!

Went to two universities, one was a UW another was SLU. Now I get all the indicators. Two UW Madison alumnus on this site and they both have to be on the statist/liberal side of the political spectrum.

I was at one party at UW Madison, as long as you guys are drinking it is fine, but my God if you are around when they have a hangover.
