Earth Gets Geomagnetic Wallop

news.discovery.com

Feeling a bit scattered today? Well perhaps you can blame the weather. I'm not talking about spring fever. A blast of solar wind is pummeling Earth's magnetosphere today, sparking the strongest geomagnetic storm so far this year.

This is an article from Discover magazine's website.

Though NOAA had to issue a "Space Weather Advisory" and there's both a shuttle up and astronauts present on the International Space Station, this magnetic storm is supposed to be quick and relatively uneventful. Supposed to created some amazing auroras though.

I feel great today honestly. Most days I feel like crap. Maybe my body enjoys this solar wind?

i gotta say im having a bad day, but probably wouldnt attribute it to solar winds

that would be a nice excuse though!

It changes the weather depending where you are. It's cooler by 2 Celsius where I live. Here's a look at our planet's magnetic field from yesterday:

Would this have anything to do with the satellite radio at my work getting the "hiccups"?

Thought it might be solar related... Anyways, as the song goes, "Today was a good day"

Thanks for the link!

I feel like a million bucks today! (which is uncharacteristic really)

Maybe my body likes this stuff.

The kernels are starting to POP.
I suppose we can expect to observe more and more of these geomagnetic events over the next few months as we ramp up to 2012,
...then likewise watch it slowly taper off past the apex.

well some esoteric thinking does say that the suns energy is very good for you.

I've also been feeling tippetytop today, but I'm usualy rather happy anyway.

I have a sprint datacard and for about the past 2 hours my computer is saying I only have a "Local connection" I usually have "Local and Internet Connection". I have a good signal but it was just acting weird. It's fine now though.

Good find, S/F

i felt real bad yesterday, no energy, dizzy, irritable, couldnt sleep ... and it turned out yesterday we were getting absolutely wholloped (i look at the magnetosphere live thingy quite alot)

today it still their, not as bad... dunno what to make of it, but i did think the solar activity yesterday as it was totaly random and out of the blue.
