Solar Cycles 1996-2006

Here are a few pictures which might help us better understand the Sun and its cycle's.
Found on this website: Astronomy Picture of the Day

This is a picture of the Solar activity between 1996 and 2006.
I am actually trying to find some pictures of 2007-2010 and add them as well.

I have researched the year 2001, which according to the picture was extremely active...
To see if there were any natural disasters.

Well, according to Wikipedia (not the best source but...) there were a few big earthquakes (7.0-8.0)
Gujarat Earthquake
El Salvador Earthquakes
2001 Earthquakes...

2001 Natural Disasters

So I am still finding the links to provide maybe a Sunspot relationship between the two.
As far as major, wide-spread disasters being related to Solar activity...
...it remains to be researched!

But these pictures do show proof of our Sun going through eventful changes.
Which, to me, have an effect on our Planet, but to what degree, I am unsure.

Keep researching!

Oh yeah and thanks Phage, for showing me that APOTD site...

Well as for that sun, star sitting 93 million miles from us, I'd believe the effects and causes, that this boiling plasma are beyond all our sensors, so far. I cannot fathom, all the unknowns the sun produces that effect us every single nanosecond.

I do believe your on the right track, there can be correlations, between the sun and events on Earth. How to tie them together now that is work of art!
