You're right we're not in their shoes, but the fact of this matter is, there was no hesitation, only a WANT to open fire on this group of people, the only question asked was, "Permission to engage." The rest was all fun and games. I'm damn glad i'm not in their shoes because I'd probably be in a military prison right now for refusing to fire on CIVILIANS. You can't pull the in their shoes card when on the video you hear the soldier saying, "Yeah look at those dead bastards." And the wounded guy trying to crawl to safety the soldier says. "All you have to do is pick up a weapon." the van coming out to help the wounded and then firing on then when there is clearly two children in the front seat clearly visible as it was zoomed in on. Then stating. "Well its their fault for bringing their kids." This was monstrous and I for one am very ashamed.

Hell yeah! I copied and pasted the info from earlier today and sent it to CNN and my local news stations. I guess they really do listen to the people. I think enough of us here did the same, which resulted in the airing of this video. I think we should do this for every video we come across here and submit it to the MSM and see what happens.

Terrorist could be a bad use of word, but hostile to americans none the less...like I said I don't condone the actions but were not over there and don't know fully what these troops are going through or have seen...and looking back there's is a guy with what in my opinion clearly looks like an rpg peaking his head around the corner, and to add at around 2 20 into the video one of the men has his ak out...not saying its right again, but were not in there shoes...

A simple 2 second zoom would have clarified it beyond any doubt, but lets keep making excuses for them.

I am not angry with the military in general, I KNOW there are some brave, genuinely good-hearted men and women in our military and armed forces, but the few that take this much pleasure in killing, they deserve the type of wrath that no human could ever bestow.

Oh, and if you are wondering how i jumped to them taking pleasure in their actions.......a simple zoom, and doing their job correctly would have saved numerous lives that day, including innocent journalists and children......what happens if these same military personnel bring these types of battles to our very home front? Will that be enough, or are we already too broken to stand up for whats right?

The gunner had ample time to properly identify his targets. But you can tell that the gunner and pilot are eager to start shooting and didn't properly take the time to identify the individuals they were looking at. At 2:01 on the full video, they say some guys with straps on their shoulders and immediately said they were carrying AKs, even though one of them is clearly holding a camera pouch. At 2:05 there's 2 people can are possibly holding AKs, but they're in a non-threatening posture, and the AKs (if that's what they were) appear to have no magazines. The eagerness of the gunner to start killing people is easily recognisble in his voice. That eagerness likely caused him to improperly identify his targets.

The problem here is that NO ONE in the video was an immediate threat to anyone, regardless of the intentions of the US Soldiers. Absolutely no consideration was taken into account. No second thoughts. No questions as to why so many unarmed people were surrounding the armed ones. No time taken to see what the true intentions of the van driver / routers employees were. Shoot first, ask questions later.

Im sorry but how this was hyped really let me down, "execution" of journalists, seriously, execution it wasnt. Am i the only one who payed attention to the ENTIRE video, time sequence 3:45 there are clearly 2 men with weapons, the 2 journalists? no they are pointed out very well, at 3m45s however there are 2 men with weapons in the same area as the jounalists in the same general group of Iraqis. A ground unit in the area had reported being fired on, as they say in the video, then you see a large group of Men, yes a group of Military age men, in a group with weapons, yes weapons, look at 3m45s, and 2 other men with large objects slung over thier shoulders. Sorry conspiracy guys i see this as a very unfortunate and tragic event that happens in war, is it tragic, YES, is it regreatable, YES, is it war, YES, is it as advritised a conspiracy to execute journalists, NO, at least not in this video guys. Those poor kids, to say though u dont know how they were hurt, they got hurt when that 30mm shell exploded in their van, sometimes the military are just that way. remember Korea was called a police action, tell that to the frozen Chosin
'

Oh really because if I remember correctly no one from the medic van had weapons and all the guys with alleged "weapons" were already dead. So how do you explain that they blew up the van with innocent children and medics in it?

My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of the higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military.

Major General Smedley Darlington Butler

I think the morality of the common soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan is on a very slippery slope. And eventually even there mental faculties as the General said.
These helicopters airman sure seem that way. No common sense, nor respect for the lives of innocent civilians.

That's there job...to kill or be killed, its war they're not going to sit down and play a game of cards for war...these soldiers on both sides are sick in the head, I'm not sticking up for them I think. The shooting of the van was sick and they're reactions to the kids were sick..who knows if they saw them before they fired...as far as actions being taken on the soldiers, don't count on the government to do anything other then apologize, but files and names will become missing, so don't get too excited, I wish they had proof of being harassed by the government or something a little harder then this, this can be played by either side, and the govt will play it down

So, what's the purpose of spreading the video? Seriously, we already know some soldiers have done outrageous crimes. We already know that there are Iraqi citizens that blow themselves up in markets with no regards to others, just to kill 1 soldier or their fellow Muslims.

I'm not endorsing or backing up what happened in the video, it just seems that a lot of people here wanting to see America go down in flames so badly.

Actually, it's kind of ironic that a lot of the people here that are foaming at the mouth are acting the same way they label any 'war mongers'.

Again, what would you like to happened to America? Sanctions? Invasion? What?

I just love CNNs coverage of the story.

Yeah, um we are gonna show you a clip of a video and tell you that it kills people, but not actually show the killing so you can get the full effect of the brutality and irresponsibility of the US military, oh and btw, there was an 'investigation' and noone was at fault. see even reuters backs us up, the made a statement saying as much, oh and afterall why would they lie to you, it was their employees

SHOW THE VIDEO AND LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE WHO WAS AT FAULT

You see, that's your mistake right there mate.

Thinking after decades of this crap that voting in a new Pretzel would change stuff. Man , you guys are beyond repair.

Assuming that your vote means anything !?

Get real.

I´m sorry for the harsh tone but this is getting out of hand and apparently somebody has to tell you guys what's up. Fact is , I'm clueless as to where you dig up these asshats that run your country.

Then you aren't listening. WE don't dig them up. "They" do. And they are shoved down our throats.

It has gotten to where we vote for the lesser of the evils, not the best candidate. And the last President who tried to do it his way? JFK.

Like i said, where are you from? I doubt your back yard is as clean as you presume. "They" select your leader, too.

Don't these idiots have binoculars or something? Are they relying entirely on fuzzy, pixilated targeting visuals for identification? How utterly stupid can you be?

They just wanted to shoot someone up, be all "apocalypse now." Give their little red neck selves a thrill. Anyone involved in that shooting are the worst scum on the face of the earth.

I would like to see the United States of America do the right thing. Admit to the world that we have been murdering innocent men, women, and children, of all nations and creeds, not just the ones shown in the video, and have the people of this great nation stand up and take our country back.

I think that would be a major first step, expose the political dogs for what they truly are, with ALL of their cronies, along with a swift action of the people to right this whole situation. Lets take our country back and show the world the PEOPLE of the United States are disgusted with this tirade, and as a re-unified nation we will step back into the global arena willing to bring some good to our planet and species. That would surely make a mark on several countries and maybe even inspire them to do the same, its got to be a better option than our current path

It may be time for the United States to exercise some humility

How could anyone even attempt to justify the actions of this US military unit, when the pentagon and the US military were caught red handed obfuscating the truth about the events that occurred that day?

They claimed that they were under fire, and had no choice but to retaliate. Unfortunately for them, this recently leaked video differs greatly from their own version of events. It clearly indicates that they were never under fire, and never in any danger whatsoever.

Why would they need to lie, and go through so much trouble in their effort to cover this incident up, if they had nothing to hide?

They know they are guilty of wrongdoing. Their actions speak for themselves.

I can almost feel the burn coming from some of the posts...
