There is no preparation, either people will be able to deal with it or they won't.

Precisely.

There is also the problem that most people will be expecting a Hollywood-style landing; all big ships and flashing lights and hoards of waving aliens having their photo’s taken and it may well be that scenario.

But what if it’s a subtle little landing and only a few beings who just want to talk to the government of their country of choice? What if their mannerisms are wholly at odds to ours, and therefore instill an unreasonable distrust? Humans are known to shun strangers…

We are either expecting too much, or not enough.

And there’s another situation to consider; until we know exactly why they are here, a lot of people will turn to and listen intently to other, authoritative people (read religious and UFO pundits) for information – and those folks, as we all know, will be horribly biased towards their own concepts and dogma.

What an information minefield…

To see that collective smug grin permanently wiped from the faces of those who have tried to lead the human race through deception and ridicule throughout history.

Oh, but that would be the worst scenario imaginable!

Consider the aliens standing in front of the TV cameras of the world, proclaiming their intergalactic mission of love and peace, and then they drop the bombshell that every Earth religion is based on real events, but that Man has tried to explain those events in his own words, and for his own controlling purposes.

Would all deeply religious types just shrug their shoulders and say “Oh well. It was important and supportive while it lasted” and start to ignore the centuries of indoctrination religions have instilled in us?

Or would we have outright, violent condemnation of the alien’s claims, or mass anger directed towards the various religious institutions?

Many would vehemently deny anything that denigrates their faith, and, more than likely, violently.

How would we prepare for that situation?

I already believe from the bottom of my heart we are not special and that we are a mere speck of dust.

And that may well turn out to be the case.

But what about our entrenched Human arrogance, and all of the institutions that paint us to be special? How will we shed those from our collective psyche?

Learning that you are just another part of a far larger collection of beings would, unless it is handled carefully, undermine our shared confidence. I will admit that I hope most of us would be capable of looking on this news as a challenge, but I worry about the others.

Good point but would it not be a good idea to leave that until theyve actually told us about them first?

my first day of ufo contact? since i know there is nothing to fear, I would try to stay calm. can't guarantee i could and would do, but i have the knowledge that they can't harm you. that would give me some comfort.

What if we are in the process of first contact now? Think about it, UFO sightings have increased tenfold over the past couple years. It's opening people's eyes. A single spontaneous event of first contact would likely cause mass panic. But the mass ufo sightings are causing people to "wake up". I think the sightings will continue and build up until society is ready for a "hey what's up?" from another civilization.

It does seem that the past year, more and more people i know are embracing the fact and accepting that we may not be alone. They recognize that things are changing and we may not live in the world we thought we lived in...

What do you guys think?

Even if we happened to be alone. Still we are not even close to special.

Only on this planet alone we have proven to be nothing more then a pesky virus. The only thing standing out is the ability to love and care.
Which I might say is greatly over shadowed by the way we destroy our natural habitat, flora and fauna and even eachother.

If we make contact with a friendly race it would probably only mean it is to prevent us from killing the world.

Are we to assume that ET is fluent in English or any other Earth based language to conduct such a "press conference"?

Additionally, would they schedule a time slot with Fox News for fair and balanced coverage?

All jokes aside, I really don't think it will be anything like this.

I picture something more along the lines of The Day The Earth Stood Still, but without the giant robot, lol. Basically, the alien ship lands and our military surrounds it. The being (or beings) will step out and a trigger happy soldier gets anxious and shoots it out of paranoia.

It sounds crazy, but it sounds like a likely scenario to me.

I will wear a T-shirt with this text: HAH! DIDN'T I TELL YOU?

Personally I would be overjoyed. But I would expect economic repercussions and social upheaval that would probably affect my life negatively in the short term. In the long term it would be a blessing.

But I know people whose ideologies would be proven wrong by an alien presence and they would suffer from that. On the other hand I have been suffering because of the lack of alien presence. So I guess that would be only fair then

Well said and I agree completely. I'll think "of course I'm ready!....so long as they are nice....wow, I hope they are not mean....if they are mean they can just stay home." lol

So I am ready so long as they are nice

I doubt Et's would contact us through TV. That's SOO 20th century man
I can see it happening with an "Oh by the way we're not alone. Goodbye!" announcement by Obama, TV stations analyzing what he said. People shocked. People calm down. Obama elaborates. Small, isolated landings to select few broadcasted on TV. Aliens project hologram "TV" into sky to say hi. Landing on a mass scale, etc.

The one thing i've heard is that atleast the good ET's are big on free will. They won't force anybody to do anything. If they land, it'll be so whoever wants to see them, can (that would be me)

I would be overjoyed as well. To all those who thought i was a nut, i'd say "I hate to say i told you so, but i told you so."

There is a positive & negative effect to every action. The key thing is balance. There would be a positive & negative reaction to ET's but, the ET's are aiming (from what i've heard) is atleast a majority positive reaction

I'm as ready as I can be, but I would still be suspicious. There are many reports of up to 10-15 different Alien races, so will we be looking at the tip of the iceberg regardless of exactly which race shows up first? If you've done much reading on the sub-terrainian bases all across the US, you will know about the reports of humans stored in warehouses as food. The Reptilians are known as being extremely agressive and predatorial. You will have heard of "soul scalping", torture and extreme degrees of intimidation and abuse. The greys are said to be of a hive mentality, and are also said to be workers for the Reptilians. There are many reports of the shape shifting abilities of the Reptilians. We haven't even talked about the Mothmen, the Nordics, or the much taller Greys that are 7-10 feet tall. How can all these different races have the same motivation? There is one way...they all work under the aegis of their Big Boss, i.e. Lucifer, the ultimate Deciever. "They will come as Angels of Light, even fooling the Elect". I'm just saying, because we just don't know for sure.

That´s a good question. In 90s I was interested in aliens for some years and waited the big contact, but it never came and I lost interest in this topic. And now suddely this year I feel strong connection with this again. I´m rather intuitive person, but it doesn´t mean I trust my intuition 100%. I just pay attention to it. And I have this feeling during past months, that this year 2010 changes the world a lot and it´s related to mass contact. Another interesting thing is, that I started to see dreams about different kind of aliens and actually they are very usuful dreams, because they´re very realistic and thanks to them I can imagine how I´d feel if the really came. In one of them, where an object with orange lights started to land in my back yard, I realised, that it´s actually scary, because it´s still unckown, even if they act friendly. Then they just stood farther and waited. But couple of days ago I had short dream, wher I was terrified, because there were different aliens around, but then one with classic face (big round head and very big black eyes) came to me and just stared at me and I calmed down. I woke up at night after this draem and felt physically, how my body relaxed, it was interesting experience. So, if they really are able to calm us dow, then it would be great. If not, then its gonna be... interesting

Ready !

Your get vaccinated got me thinking.

An intelligent friendly race would know about virus and bacteria being a threat. How would the worlds governments get everybody vaccinated ? ( If the know of course )

Maybe they would try it by lifting an influenza strain up to a pandemic threat ? How would you vaccinate an entire population without telling them its's because of disclosure ?

I dont understand this...where is the idea of people needing vaccinated coming from? do you mean vaccines that will suppress panic or protect us from some kind of unknown disease taken here by off planet beings???

I for sure would be very very very wary of any alien race coming here and disclsure, the world is not what we think it is and if they came here saying PEACE, i'm pretty sure that would mean KILL...i dont understand why, if they were peaceful, they wouldnt already be here and mingled with us already, helping sort our problems...

when it does happen, I hope its an enlightened civilization at least a billion years older than ours and that it happens sooner rather than later

though for the life of me, I just can't imagine why they would want a major headache such as earth humans

I've seen First Responder manuals for the "Contact" scenario. Very 1960s.

So what will you do when they come?

#1 befriend translators?

Get vaccinated?

Run for the hills?

Bring a welcome fruit & cheese basket?

Imagine the day, the shock, the news, the reactions, your kids, the seniors, the army, the curfews... What would you do first? Would you follow the masses?

Would the masses be euphoric or panic?

Would you be wary or open or defensive or protective of the aliens?

What does your mind's eye see when you put yourself in that first day of all out UFO contact?

I think people would freak in the event of an non-violent independence day style contact happened. I would simply think its project blue-beam at first and especially after if it was said that they are our creator e.c.t. I wouldn't freak, probably just pray.
