How you define Democratic Socialist and Communist are relative to the time and place.

Lenin was a member of the Russian Social Democratic Party.
The Social Democrats split into the radical Bolsheviks and the moderate Mensheviks.

The difference in the past between Social Democrats and Marxists was that one wanted Evolutionary Socialist change, the other wanted Revolutionary Socialist change.

Communism itself is a utopian ideal. As one of my professors, who was born and grew up in the Soviet Union, would say: The USSR was never communist. Communism was the dream, the goal we would reach one day. The USSR was a totalitarian socialist country. Its even in the name, the Union of the Councils of the Socialist Republics.

So its all relative.

True but there is specific criteria for what defines a Socialist state and a Communist state..

And while France ticks many of the boxes for the Socialist ideology.. The main aspect of Communism is the Communal ownership of all property which is nowhere near the case in France.. Which is after all a Continental Capitalist nation with Socialist tendencies.

Does anyone know how the banking reserve sysyem works in the EU? Do you have fractional reserve policy or do you guys just make it up like the new bill the Fed Reserve is pushing in the US Congress?

We get NOTHING out of Europe.

We pay huge amounts to belong (£20 Billion per year), and for what?

They use our military (the "EU Force" that keeps getting a mention when it suits are BRITISH FORCES!). NO-ONE in Europe pays for that - WE, THE UK TAX PAYER do, and WE pay Europe for this???

WHY???

The EU does support the Royal Family with millions in Land & Farm subsidies every year.. Thats one reason..

Its pretty much the same system except that its an awful lot more controlled as a result of the various types of economies that use the EURO..

Also because the $ is the official global reserve, its easier to dump more notes into the markets than with the €.

Thank you, but control means a lot of different things here on ATS.

Which part of the process is "controlled"? Strict regualtions on the amount of money stored at the banks, what is considered an asset or the banks ability to seize property. Probably all the above. Yet the Lawless Yanks strike again.

Good point about the Euro going down as a good thing for the Eurozone. I feel the same way about the dollar in relationship to the Yuan.
