Religion definately is human invention. By religion I mean the dogmatic set of rules which restrain and/or rewards the believer, and it is basically to maintain social order. If you look at ten commandments of Christianity for example:

  1. I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods before me
  2. You shall not make for yourself an idol, you shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God
  3. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
  4. Honor your father and mother
  5. You shall not murder
  6. You shall not commit adultery
  7. You shall not steal
  8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor
  9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife
  10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor

From fourth commandment onwards, all them are merely for purpose to uphold social integrity. The purpose of religion is to give higher standards for laws, as many people are uncapable of respect mundane laws that have no such authority as the word given from the God.

Conception of God is a tougher question. First you would have to define the God and the Godhead (the trinity). Christianity and other religions are not so different at their basis - it would take pages to explain it properly, but there are many good works of comparative religion studies made that prove from historical and psychological viewpoint, that the underlying purpose of religions is essentially same.

God(s), spirit(s) and soul(s) are essentially the same thing, the symbolic reflections of human uncosciousness. It doesn't render them less valuable, we can still respect the nature as creation of universe, the existence itself and that within us there lives a portion of God that we cannot understand in complete.

I'd agree with you on anything but that!
The "10 Commandments" (LAw's as Not-do's) are not from humanity.

They were until just a few years ago a puzzle defying religious solution,
they don't divide equally in half or quarter yet were written into 2 stone tables,
and then there's two examples given in Bible differing notably...

Now we know the genius of it is PERFECT... written in the only script in all History
"Monospace" (equal size character set) drawn from the fixed stars of the Zodiac as
280 spaces on each side of 14 in 20 lines, and the '5th ordered' around its edges
written On the lines extended around that are plotting it's two sides!
There's No blank spaces save two indents, one at each start point (side and edge)
rather each words last letter 'bows' toward the next word -in Boustrophedon!

Top that with that the Mountain of it's Rock type for Tables has been exacted,
(having an 'obsidianized' top it is among the Al-Loz mtns of the Hijaz range)
and with the best technologies it is not inscribable for it's complex micro-layering,
and yet it hews smoothly square and finishes beautifully, having great solidity!

Well I am not really familiar with the tablets themselves, but I'd figure that human being is (and has been from times immemorial) very clever with the hands. Take Crystal Skull for example. I know, it is much recent artifact.

But you can either look at Pumapunku or the Great Pyramid of Giza, to see how skillful the historical human has been. Also one has to remember how clever the Sumerians were in producing tablets, statues, ornaments and carvings, and their culture times around 5000 BC.

Umm, that said, I am not exactly arguing against your statement above, just providing some material about the fact that how skillful mankind was in producing skillfully crafted artifacts. I can't really argue against physical tablets themselves, but the literal content of the tablets appears to be something that aims into upholding the social coherency.

They are intended to be a Standing with the Creator
a platform upon which Trust is established for Empowerment
that 'those things specified' as beneath the arriving thereon
would be a constitution -simple as 10-toes on 10-matters
NOT granted continuance (condemned) by the Distinguisher.

Without this (in Denial) there would be no STANDard of what is to be "helled"
against which the launch of 'whatever else' (as permitted) would be "heavened"!

That is, there needs to be an independent party involved in order to 'remove' the hurt from a person so that they may try and deal with the issue, rather than dwell on it.

This seems to imply that the source of religion is not so much of divine origin, but more a psychological one and thus a human 'invention'.

There is only ONE true religion:

Catholicism.

But seriously, as long as a religion doesn't have a system of law, where it is compatible with a "separation of church & state", I believe that it was not created by humanity, and there was a higher power working at its creation.

Which means there are THREE true religions:

Voodoo. Buddhism. Taoism.
