All perfectly reasonable for 1940. Probably no photoshopping. How can you tell without the original photograph?

I just spent over an hour looking through Univ. of Michigan image archives for a Michigan letter without serifs and had to go back to 1890 to find one. (I couldn't find any images of my grandfather for track and field, either--but will keep looking).

edit: Looking more closely at the photo, though, it appears a serif could be obscured by the way his jacket is positioned.

Anyone else find him in history?

Ha! Definitely photoshopped. Over on the extreme right. That Roman soldier is holding a shotgun. Really? A shotgun in 33 CE? Even the dude in sunglasses looks skeptical.

That model of camera wasn't manufactured until 1950 - just a little factoid, not belittling your post or find.

Obviously, a "fellow time-traveler"!!!

Or, maybe two blind men???

And, what about that orb in the sky...can't see it? Hold the pic at a 45 degree angle, sprinkle some salt on the back and wet it with a tablespoon of water, now hold it up to the sun...see, see the orb? Oh well, nevermind.

Nothing out of place chronologically speaking. Mountaineering sunglasses existed. See this link januarymagazine.com... for a photo of a woman wearing the same.

A guy in the front row appears to have the same camera.

T-Shirts existed in the 1940's as well. anonymousworks.blogspot.com...

Time Travel? Really?

I am impressed by how many different cameras were seen in the 'time travelers' hands by posters.
I am not sure that it is a camera in his hands.

If it is a camera, I would lean towards a simple box camera like a Kodak 'Brownie'.
I don't see a large lens on the front, like others profess to see.

Regarding the hairstyle (on men in the day, it was referred to as a 'cut'), many men had their hair cut at home by a family member that may or may not have much skill in the art. This was especially true in rural areas.

Just so it's clear:
I don't think we are looking at a time traveler here.
I don't believe that the image is photoshopped.

Long Live Albert The Timetraveller-who-may-or-may-not-be!
Long may he find himself in fanciful settings!
Go Into the light Son, and may the Force Be With you!
See You In 100 years!

Please take a message to my great granchildren for me, tell them "I Was Not", probably a grumpy old caveman".

Huh. I often wondered about this late night special a cable station had on Star Tours opening, which featured George Lucas and Walt Disney:

Some possibilities.

If you are unable to see the entire image just "right click" on it and select "view Image" to see the whole thing.

You have to take into account the circumstance and what and where the picture is telling you IMO, before anyone can call the picture fake it's important to know the story behind it.

On the source offered by the OP it appears to be from a historical website showing the history of a small town in Canada which seems to have relied on the local Goldmine for it's prosperity.

Listed as

Bralorne Pioneer Museum Gold Bridge , British Columbia

The caption for the picture tells us

Reopening of the South Fork Bridge after flood in Nov. 1940. 1941 (?) South Fork Bridge, Gold Bridge, B.C. Canada Events: Historic Gender: Mixed People: Crowd Type: Image Work: Transport General: The 1940's

On the same site it has pictures of the collapsed bridge and the cause in the picture, a semi carrying a large digging machine , this picture which is picture # 124 is one of 155 pictures of events and people in the town, " Bralorne BC.

Why would someone plant a picture there to be discovered? the chances of it's discovery would be small with it being seemingly for locals.

The site has a contact button which could be used to ask about the pictures.

The man does seem to a little out of place, he even appears to have a designer stubble, excluding the shadow on the side of his face, because that is from his ear, but above his mouth and on his chin shows the stubble, the camera is a little obscured to tell for sure what kind it is.

He looks like he has thrown on the nearest clothes he could to come see the bridge re-open, of course the picture could be a fake, but just because this can be done, does not mean it has been, which could be settled by contacting the site designer asking for the negative or any other query about the photo.

My personal believe is, time travel is possible, just because we don't understand or know how it is achieved, does not in any way prove it is impossible, there have ben several incidents of time slips in this city, a lot of them recorded, and told to others with similar details, with no connection to those who expierienced the slip, but they always happen in the same area, and seem to send people back several decades to the same place, they have and ccan interact with others during the slip, but have no control on staying or returning, often they enter a store, or turn a corner to find themselves back where they were, and is still happening today, one incident happening not more then 7 months ago, to two people, not related or having any knowledge of each other, just bumping into one another and noticing the similarities in their dress, then both returning at the same time just by entering a store they know now as a book store, but is totally different in the slip, or as it was back when they slipped too.

I guess we will never know for certain about this picture, but I have noticed at least two members, or very new members, trying their hardest to put the idea down, something I have recently grown to distrust, simply because of the reactions, the determination, the excuses, their remarks on other similar threads, and that being their only history here, have a small investigation yourselves and you will notice something a little odd.

Very good thread OP got my attention even got me looking for more oddities on the web.

S&F for sure.

What's interesting about this to me is that people wearing shirts that have ads for products and things is a fairly recent development. In the 40's clothes were very plain. Unless this guy had his own silkscreen and really liked the letter M it is unusual.
