All of us have a "telephone" to God - if we choose to use it. Some have just ran out of change I suppose.

This second line doesn't make this any less of a one liner.

How are you going to feel when your prayers are not answered? Betrayed by your deity? Waste of time? Instead, why don't you do something worthwhile, like praying for world peace or health and prosperity for all? Or does it just feel better to pray for something based upon personal dislikes and biases? If there is a higher power...who's prayers are most likely to be answered? Those in need or those with an agenda?

The extension of the metaphor doesn't really work.

Unfortunately, the idea that we all have a telephone to God doesn't make much sense either, or that the usefulness of such a telephone doesn't make much sense. What happens if some piss-poor black family somewhere who's gone to church every week for generations is praying to God for the bill to go through because they believe, right or wrongly, it's the better for them and people in similar positions. Who does God listen to on this celestial party line or, rather, who does he heed and help?

Ask God in the name of Jesus Christ, his son, our Lord to help defeat it. No I am serious.

I am one of the little people, I don't have power, I can't bribe, threaten or reward anyone to any degree.

Ask for God's help in this matter, perhaps he will grant some intercession.

Doesn't seem so long ago that someone mentioned on this site that the Pope himself should give mass and ask God to protect us all from the "new flu". The flu season is over, we made it.

The flu season is always going to end sometime, and we made it like any other year, I don't see how that is God helping in anyway.

I'm tired of people praying when they realize they don't have the power to do anything... but whatever, if that helps you cope and think positive, so be it.

SO it appears praying didn't work. This means one of three things.

1. god did not hear your prayers
2. god is a democrat
3. There is no god
