the directors and officers of a corporation shall exercise their powers and discharge their duties with a view to the interests of the corporation and of the shareholders....
The provision in the law I am talking about is the one that says the purpose of the corporation is simply to make money for shareholders. Every jurisdiction where corporations operate has its own law of corporate governance. But remarkably, the corporate design contained in hundreds of corporate laws throughout the world is nearly identical. That design creates a governing body to manage the corporation–usually a board of directors–and dictates the duties of those directors. In short, the law creates corporate purpose. That purpose is to operate in the interests of shareholders.

2000 Business Week/Harris Poll that asked Americans which of the following two propositions they support more strongly: Corporations should have only one purpose--to make the most profit for their shareholders--and pursuit of that goal will be best for America in the long run.
--or—
Corporations should have more than one purpose. They also owe something to their workers and the communities in which they operate, and they should sometimes sacrifice some profit for the sake of making things better for their workers and communities.
An overwhelming 95 percent of Americans chose the second proposition.

Nationwide strikes in France against Sarkozy
(AP) – 1 hour ago
PARIS — Nationwide strikes in France hobbled public services from transport to schools Tuesday, with unions hoping their action would put the brakes on reforms planned by President Nicolas Sarkozy two days after his party's stinging defeat in regional elections.
But the new labor minister, Eric Woerth, vowed to move ahead with reforming the "extremely fragile" pension system, the most critical change expected.
Unions say Sarkozy's conservative government hasn't offered satisfactory plans on jobs, salaries, purchasing power and working conditions — and they hope to hammer home that message in the wake of Sunday's runoff elections.

I have always said, the workers hold all the power. If this strike was to happen, the whole world would come to a stand still, and TPTB would crap themselves. We as a whole could take back the power, but I feel there won't be enough people, because of their fears and lack of income. I may not be able to take off work, but you can bet I'll mark my calendar. I will not be purchasing one thing, and I will call the White house. I already don't put my money in big corporate banks.
Whoever controls the workers, controls the world. Isn't it time we control ourselves again?

Great thread, UK is approaching another 'winter of discontent', people are now waking up and the Union power is again coming back, about time !!
-snip- We have no rulers, we are not slaves, we chose to be slaves, we chose to bow to corporations, we sign contracts without reading the details, we give police powers they do not have and do not take the time to care for each other.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again,
And expecting different results.
No! Enough!
I recently starting standing up for my rights, reading the law, understanding contract law and police powers such as section 44. Not only do I feel safer but I am taking my power back. I am on forums such as ATS and CAG and see others around doing the same and I see the change..........remove yourself from the matrix.......its a beautiful world and we are winning.
