A dictator is a ruler (e.g. absolutist or autocratic) who assumes sole and absolute power (sometimes but not always with military control) but, without hereditary ascension such as an absolute monarch.

The reason the Seal is not being used on Obamas podium, is because Dictators don't use a Presidential Seal...

Restoring class to the office of POTUS by not displaying the seal of POTUS?
If he is ashamed of either being POTUS or using his occupation of POTUS to raise $$$, maybe he would restore class by simply not attending.
I don't think anything "malevolent" is happening, but you have to admit it is a bit odd.

Odd, as in unusual practice, OK, I'll admit that. However, your other points don't flow easily in my humble opinion. He is not acting ashamed at all in terms of being POTUS. He is showing shame that he needs to use his office to raise money in this fashion, however, asking him not to do so at all is akin to telling an army to unilaterally lay down its weapons because the soldiers realize killing is not pretty.
This is the real world, not the perfect world, and, if anything, I like the point Obama is trying to make with this SMALL gesture.
Best,

We can agree that the act is shame driven. I think telling an army to laydown weapons because killing (innocent people) is not pretty is something that should be said.
I will agree with you that it is a small gesture...I think it should be a big gesture, you know "real change I can believe in"...if you are ashamed to do something, don't do it.
Seems simple to me.
