exactly my sentiments, SteveR.

i wonder how they managed to confirm it was the taliban she was firing at?

i wished she would land and see what death she created. would she think it was artistic to see tungsten darts dotted in human beings? more artistic than jack the rippers work? or the others?

her fellow travellers would assure her she was on the side of the good guys, and also that god was undoubtedly on their own side.

all soldiers should stand down everywhere. lock all politicians in a room and let them sort it out themselves.

Now, after reading this I thought... Damm.... you go girl. Then I got to thinking.... Sad.... our childrens mothers-our societies glue...MOMS etc... I don't want them killing or in war etc.

Well, you can think the wonderful "Women's lib" movement for that. They seem to be the ones that spearheaded the idea that women should be allowed into Combat Arms and access to combat specialities.

Of course, 99.9% of them (or their daughters) wouldn't be in combat themselves, but it's great YOUR daughter can be allowed to fight!

Why do I have to pay for the expensive weapons used on mischevious Iraqi boys?

Yeah, kids these days. Wow, I use to just set a bag of dogturds on fire outside the neighbors door. Those mad-cap pranksters in Iraqi stepped it up a notch.

How do you classify packing an IED into a road as "mischief"?

Why can't she get out of her machine and be more selective about who she kills?

Well, CAS isn't just someone in a helicopter tooling around. It's usually called in by troops in contact. They probably saw the Taliban run into the tree line and told her where to go to find them.

For all of you who are saying "How does she know that they are Taliban or not?", you need to start understanding the way the conflict is being fought.

A standard Apache job will be in response to a call for AH cover from ground callsigns. The AH64 crew get target indications from the troops in contact. They identify the enemy on foot and engage them. Often the Apache crew are able to identify individual enemy troops and the weapons they are carrying. They take massive precautions to avoid engaging areas populated by civillians, often going so far as refusing to engage if they believe there is even the slightest chance of civillians being present.

They don not just fire indiscriminately into treelines. Every time a trigger is pulled on these airframes a gun camera is initiated. Every shot has to be accounted for. Every target has to be identified. Do not underestimate the quality of this footage - the AH64 has some of the most advanced optics of any fighting helicopter in the world. This camera footage is disected by senior ranks during the post operation wash up. In todays climate do you really think that indiscriminate engagement of civillians is tolerated? If so you need to stop believing everything you read.

You know that, and I know that, but unfortunately there are a lot of posters here on ATS that don't believe it, or want to believe it.
