Several days ago one of the members here listed a couple of FF tweaks that would hopefully improve performance. i used them. my overall performance hasn't improved.

i am wondering if that member might remember providing the advice. no, i don't remember who it was. sorry, i know i suck at giving enough information to help myself.

I just want to undo the tweaks.

For some reason i seem to think it was doc velocity....but who knows.

It may have been me. Just in case, I sent you a u2u.
For other's information, press alt+T, then A, and from there each add-on can be selected or deselected at whim.

These tweaks were done via the about:config function.

I am a major fan of noscript, as well as adblock and a few others (there is one that deletes the LSO cookies when you exit that i love).

There were only three or four tweaks that were listed. They dealt with how to change the number of processes running, et al. I just want to find where they were listed so i can go in and undo them. i am unable to find the post. It was somewhere in this forum, while they were discussing lagging issues on ATS.

Hiya Furry, what tweaks were they? I've used a couple myself to nix the creeping memory usage. Maybe I can help?

i appreciate it, and the U2U.

i agree about what you say. "If it isn't a PITA, it isn't doing its job". I had to convince my mother of this, as well as convincing her to not let my older sister use her computer anymore.

i can't recall exactly. it was one to increase the multiple memory processes being used....i slept too many times. i had almost forgotten about it, and it just occured to me a few minutes ago. i went searching for the thread, and it is already buried.

ahhh....and now my smoking fast, quad core is back to performing like it used to.

actually, a little better. i did leave one of the tweaks in place (the ones that Tristar recommended).

with so many tweaks circulating around it would be hard knowing exactly what one messed with or what one did not mess with.

Here is a tip for people who want to reset all configuration settings.

In Firefox address bar type " about:config " then press enter.

You will see a long list of variables. Look to the far right of the screen for a tiny black line box image , "find the letters "preference name" then follow that line all the way to the right. Click the tiny triangle box icon,

You will then see a drop down menu , select " Restore defaults ".

Then bingo all tweaks are now undone.

Hope this helps.

Here you go....these are what I use and it may give you an idea of what's "default". Or for anyone else wishing to try this out.

Certainly didn't "double" my speed but certainly helped.

A handful of browser tweaks that will double your browser speed

Cheers, nerb
