Ooh, DUDE! I was wondering where I left that thing! I was so high that night, I had no idea...

Actually, the white blobs come from the photographic process. The Lunar Orbiter cameras took actual photographs, developed them on-board the spacecraft and then scanned the images for transmission back to Earth. That's how they got such great resolution with '60s technology. Unfortunately, the photochemical process on the strips of film in zero-g sometimes caused bits to stick together, which resulted in the white blobs.
