I also have an idea if you would like to try it. If you are an Anarchist on ATS, put this (A) in your signature somewhere, so there can be a way to tell if the ideology on ATS is growing.

Yea sure so all the Feds can see who is anti Govt

You got a better chance of seeing God

There are no anarchists on this board I assure you. The symbol people are posting is more a part of the punk rock movement than anything. I was an anarchist in 9th grade until my dad explained to me why anarchy is just plain stupid with humans the way they are. To everyone who asked what an anarchist was, there is more than likely a toolbar at the top of your browser that will let you enter in search terms. Use it sometimes instead of cluttering a thread with easily answered questions.

Sorry dude, I think you are wrong, I live in an anarchist community. Successfully not paying tax or using money. Admittedly some anarchists are punk rockers, but not all punks are anarchists. Where i am we've got 80yr olds who are anarchists.

What makes us anarchists?
Well we live completely outside the political/economic system.
We do everything ourselves, from growing food to making music.
We share our skills and communicate with other small groups.

If you want to hang-out with some real Anarchists just go down to the local VFW post... around happy hour... I wasnt joking...

Am I one? do I think it's coming?
I hope not. but worry it could.
with the violence we see in big cities today some would argue it's already here.

Well I'm anarchist. Do I need to trumpet it into the world by my signature? No. Not everybody will listen/understand arguments for my world view and I don't want end any communication by stupid labeling.
BTW all open source software is anarchy at practice. More then half of inet is running on open source code. And it is working if I compare it to hierarchical corporate #.
How do I define anarchists? Libertarians with social consciousness.
Is anarchy possible at current state of affairs? Yes, in small communities. Anarchy is based on personal responsibility and most of the people - products of social conditioning - are not able to live in anarchy. At same time anarchy is guiding idea - do not trash it because just now it is not possible globally.
Many social achievements, which are now attributed to SocDem, are product of anarchists struggle.

1 Samuel Chapter 8 expresses well my idea of anarchy. "God" is The King. Only "God" has the right to control me. When I am rational, fair, and kind, I am listening to God. No man who would tell me what "God" is saying has any credibility. Before Saul, the Israelites were "ruled" by judges. In anarchy, the opinion of respected citizens might be sought to help mediate disputes. If these "judges" were corrupt, they would destroy their reputation. Gold does not corrupt men, and ownership of property, honestly gained, is only God's business and not of any man. I will leave everyone else to pursue his happiness if he respects my freedom and respects my property. Attilas and witchdoctors keep your distance. All reasonable offers of trade will be considered.

Haha, that's funny.

I've started a huge thread (6 pages OP) on Anrchism here.

It's not a very popular thread, because I actually take the time to explain what I feel is at the core of anarchist thought, and I guess it scared the naysayers off cause it's very easy to point out the ignorance in statements like:

it's not yet practical

We need order as half the population of the world are followers. Without leader ship, it would be like Somalia. Even tribes have leaders. I think Anarchy is stupid. But thats my opinion lol.

if you think Anarchism is cool or really want to try it out. Move to Mogadishu or the Darfur region or somewhere else.

Right, it's a matter of the "I want more" attitude that is inherent in humans that makes this system, and all others really, fail.

Anarchy is a piss-pore, lazy mode of adressing societal woes.

anarchy is just plain stupid with humans the way they are.

with the violence we see in big cities today some would argue it's already here.

When it comes to Anarchism, "Deny Ignorance" goes straight out the window for many if not most members on ATS.

So yeah, there are anarchists on this board. Does this mean they are terrorists?
No, not even close. Speaking for myself, I believe in non-violence, until self-defense comes into the picture.

The reason why there is no anarchism on this planet is because of that: anarchists don't assassinate, commit genocide, etc. etc. like the ruling elites do.

We have moral, ethical and material restraints. They don't.
