Hello, I have been seriously considering running for Congress in 2012. I will be 26 then and be old enough. I plan to run based on the idea that we need to get all of these old white people out of office because they don't represent the people. This is clear to most of us on ATS but i still think a majority of the public are content with the status quo. So what do you guys think? How hard is it going to be to get votes without the financial backing? I think I could get huge support from the younger crowd obviously. I'm ugly and get hot girls so I must be pretty convincing... I can move a crowd. I'm honest, smart, and unselfish.

By the way, I hope that lots of young inexperience people run in 2012 and we get every single one of these a holes out of office.

Danny Fal for 2012!

ok... now everyone's turn to isht on my dream

Running for Congress = GREAT IDEA!!

Idea that "Old" or "White" has anything to do with anything = Campaign Killer!

Sure, the old white guys, the Blue Dogs, the Bush Clan, the Al Sharptons, the Jesse Jacksons, the present day NAACP, and all DC Organizations and lifetime politicians are the problem, and sure we need more 26 year olds to run for Congress, and promise to serve their time and then return to real life, but don't get caught up in Popular Opinion.

EVERYONE that calls themself a Politician, or a Lobbyist, or an Insider, or a Spin Doctor, or a Anchor Person, or any popular Press Icon is the problem.

SACK THE INCUMBENT - SACK THE INCUMBENT - SACK THE INCUMBENT

Regular folks, go to Washington, vote your Conscience in spite of polls and opinions, make decisions based on Experience, and Morals, and Integrity, and don't try to get re-elected!

I will never again vote for a sitting politician. We need entirely fresh blood all the time. We need people with jobs and businesses and neighbors and speeding tickets and affairs and real-life problems in office! We don't need Polished, Prepped, and Propped Up Politicians!!

wait...hold on here...

What if your perfectly happy with your congressman? Do you have to toss out the person, no matter how much they are tring to honestly serve you, just because....

As far as the OPs running on the line of: Get old white people out of power, well...ya..erm, thinking thats not really thinking through.

a 26 year old would have to prove to me he/she was a freaking zen master whom knew the issues at hand, knew the constitution, and ultimately would be the best representitive of the local community...voting in youth just because they are young is rather dangerous considering its congress that declares war.

Agreed.

The "running for Congress" was the part I thought was great, not necessarily the "getting elected" part, LOL!

I suppose, if your Congressman is doing a bang up job, and if he somehow is able to still run his business, or keep his job back in your community, and if he is avaliable to his constituents, and if you happen to know his sister-in-law, or run into him at the grocery store every now and then . . . . . . then I suppose you can keep him.

The problem is when he stops being a part of your community, and he starts being a "politician." When that happens, throw him out!!

The eternal paradox of the democratic process: once a two-party hegemony is established, independent voices will be actively worked against. Ron Paul knows it, Peter Schiff knows it, alienated neo-Nazis and leftists have known it for decades, and now you'll know it too. So while we have freedom to vote, the actual choices we make are limited to soft-socialist democrats and soft-fundamentalist Republicans. Neither is pretty attractive, that's why I laugh at people who really think democracy is a good idea. If we want subtle dictatorship, why not just call it fascism and go with it?

That said. I still wish you you luck.

Thats the problem.

People hate...HATE congress...

but they like their particular congressman...they see their one as the sheep going into a den of wolves.

Hense why the same people get elected over and over and over...because individually, a congressman comes back to their community and spouts how he is doing great things, bringing back stimulus money to create local jobs, really fighting for them, etc...

Nothing will change...because we simply dont deserve it. Time to stop pointing at others and simply accept we are little more than tools to the system ourselves.

But, but, but. but...
I wanted to be a Congressman just so I too could get my fare share of kickbacks bribes and slush money...
I was looking forward to molesting the interns all the good drugs and free access to call girls, compliments of the big banks and oil companies... lets not forget you get to shoot lawyers in the face as long as you take them duck hunting in Texas!!!!

Now why you want to go and ruin my dream there buddy!

Yes I was kidding but not to burst your bubble... keep in mind you wouldn't be the first young Congressman that the body(AKA good ole boys club) elected to censure

That is a brilliant idea, as long as you willing to take a few punches to the chin about your private life? If your think your input and service is of use to the people of your congressional district, then by all means run! What congressional district are you seeking to represent? Can you go Washington and keep an open mind when you have outside forces tugging at you with cash and favors to give your vote on a particular piece of legislation in their favor and not in the best interest of your constituents? In other words, do you have a no nonsense disposition, and an ethical foundation to rely on? Furthermore, be beholden to none, but yourself and your constituents.

Furthermore, if elected are you willing to be lynched in the media by the opposition for voting for something you strongly believe is in the best interests of your constituents, even though it may go against the general consensus of congress? These are some things to consider? However, if you think it is something you want to do, more power to you. Just remain resolute, fair, open-minded, and keep the best interests of your constituents and the country in mind when giving that valuable vote on a piece of legislation. Remember politics is not a get rich quick scheme or a lifetime profession, but a temporary job were one should do a term or two and try to leave congress and the country better than they found it. A few new faces and fresh ideas is just what the doctor ordered and the medicine needed to lift the stagnation of Washington. Good luck!

I disagree . . . a little. Right now, people don't like any Congressman, at least in my area! And, we don't even like the top candidates! It is time for a dark horse to get through.

As soon as a Congress Person utters the term "poll" they are dead in the water! If they govern based on polls, we don't need them. One person can read the polls and do the popular thing on all occasions, the politician is an unnecessary part of that government.

We elect "people" because we want them to act based on a thought process, and a decision making process, and with their morals and intergrity and experience as their deciding factor. I want a representative that is not afraid to disagree with me and follow their own moral compass! I want a representative that always acts this way, whether they get re-elected or not!

How can government function when the one commonality is re-election? A three year term is actually a 1 year Freshman tour of don't make waves and get acquainted, a 1 year term of stalling and finding support within your party, and a 1 year term of touring and speaking to get re-elected based on everyone that you managed to not offend?

Even a President, with a Two-Term limit is hamstrung by working toward that second term, then when they get it, they open up a little until their Party leaders reel them back in and warn them not to mess up the next election for the party!

Democracy is not a great system, but a Republic is a pretty good system, and it worked well for a couple of hundred years when our Representatives still had working farms, and working businesses, and their main concern was to get their job done and get home!

dannyfal, I am in complete agreement with your premise of getting the old white boys club out of the Congress and Senate. How about a few Black people, and some Women?
We need people who are of the Working Class in public office. Those who have worked the production lines, and ran the machines that keeps American running every day of the year. Those single women who spend out almost as much for childcare as she makes at the job she loves or hates. The nurses in our hospitals, I have met many who I would seriously consider for a post in office. How about a homeless Veteran? Each of these, to this writer, would make good senators and congressmen. Not to say all would be in constant agreement, no, but they would have communication like the current administration does not have.

A little tech here.

There are only two kinds of people in the World.
Those who Serve Others....
Those who Serve Themselves.

Secondly, there are but two choices of Thought.
Each thought is based on either Love, or Fear.

Taking this into consideration, who would you like to be in office?

What we have now is a man or woman who dresses in their invincible suit of armour, they stand behind their rules and executive orders they have created to protect themselves, and they hide behind their money and their possessions. They are so hidden from the PEOPLE they are supposed to SERVE, that we can hardly see them anymore, and to them we are just a bunch of Peasants, to be in service to them, and pay them for the honor to do that. The People get their rights taken away, and instead they get licenses, and other papers signed off by them that allows you to preform for them. In case you are wondering here, I am talking about drivers licence and marriage license. Can you call one of them on the phone, or send one of them an email, or even go to their office to ask a question, or make a point, or ask for a redress of grievance? No, you cannot do this. People, this is called Taxation without Representation.
Did we not fight as bloody war over this very thing? Pretty easy to see history repeat itself, huh?
Think about it.

Well great luck.

Your gonna have to find a great campaign manager..

A good friend of mind has been inquiring to a few of my smart friends on odds.

He is seriously thinking about starting a viral campaign to get himself elected as governor of Texas. A write in candidate..

He stood up in he middle of a restaurant during a conversation with a very pretty but not to bright lass.

Well his campaign slogan is gonna be if he does it...

"LET ME BE YOUR CROOK!"

If he does do it he intends to get himself invited to the debates....

As Governor:
(IDEAS HE STOLE)
1)Strip all the governments in Texas of the right to take any land by any means... From nonpayment of Taxes to Drugs

2)Boss Hog Act
any color of law violation is an act of treason against Texas by Texas officals..

He intends to clean up Texas county by county.. He is gonna sick the rangers on em.

of note-
all executions are stayed until he individually reviews each one.

all inmates in for rape are to be automatically DNA tested. If the DNA does not match they will be released.

Any that have balked at the testing will be removed and tried under boss hog act for obstruction.

The DAs and judges that convicted will be arrested to finish out the criminals term. The arresting officer will be tried under The BHA for false imprisonment

Every single CPS case will be automatically reopened And reviewed. Should any improprieties be found they will be dealt with under BHA

He added
"Justice in Texas is for all. Not just the criminals but the corrupt prosecutors and judges. After all if they have done it once they will do it again. Is that not the logic.

Then once the justice system is cleaned up. Then we move on the criminals. Like a hammer on an anvil. Town by town! Their is gonna be a new sheriff in town!!!"

He got a standing ovation.

Texas civil rights addition:

TCRA is to be worded as a supplement to the BHA. In that the following must me met.

At any time an individual is brought in for any reason they are to be first automatically read their rights. No matter what the case.

Any LEO or Judge found supporting it will be brought in for a violation of BHA, and anything we can stick to em

The options in all courts are changed to innocent, guilty, or no contest

Next, all juries from this point forward in the state of Texas including Federal Courts in this state are to be completely informed by the judge of what jury nullification is and how it works.

All the judge may ask for is a verdict removed is the right to instruct the jury on what to consider.

A prosecutor is now liable on a personal financial level for any finding of innocence, mistrial, or successful appeal. The prosecutor is responsible for all of the defendants legal fees.

He got asked what if the Texas supreme court decides to overturn any part of the law.

"Arrest them, Its time Texans retook Texas!" He noted they could be prosecuted under BHA for obstruction.

The Iaccoca Act
All elected Texas officials make a grand total of one dollar per term.

Complete public disclosure of all financial records for any elected officials. This includes spouses and children.

All meetings with any public official are to be recorded and fed live to the internet directly. No secrecy is allowed for anyone receiving the one dollar a year of tax payer money.

I hope it gives you an idea. Great luck

wow, took a nap and was surprised to see all these responses. thanks guys. i thought i'd get flamed a lot more. i was thinking going viral. i was thinking of actually exploiting the media for their stupidity and just use it to my own good. think about how much airtime "balloon boy"'s dad got. my cousin once said to me "i'm just gonna run butt naked across the country so i can write a book about it and get rich". and i truly believe that is how the American media works.

as for getting the "rich white old guys" out of office, i think it is a fairly good angle to get at. the country is not represented by its make up. and the people who are "elected" only get in because they have MONEY. my entire angle will be i'm just a regular joe who wants my input into the government. the less assholes in power, the better. i don't plan on spending squat. i don't have squat to spend anyway. i do have huge balls though. and i spend about 90% of my time at work on ATS trying to figure out how the politics REALLY work behind the scenes.

i think my policies will be the least of the focus of my campaign. i will have an agenda yes, but the importance will lie on having a government to represent the people. take the power back from lobbiests. i have enough controversy in my life for the media to go crazy with it. but i'm educated, articulate, and can do a much better job than any coke addicted womanizer can do that is currently in office.

i hope others decide to do this too, you have absolutely nothing to lose.
