The girls in the book found a honey tree and mint leaves for tea. They missed the little bags with a string stapled to them. Tea bags became their symbol of what was "normal" and of all they lost.

I would miss sauces like A-1 and soy sauce, too. I would also miss having new choices whenever I wanted. I forget what the term is, but there is a word that means you won't eat what you have because it is boring, even though you are hungry.

Am I banned from the grocery store or are grocery stores "extinct"? If the reason is the former, I will certainly miss Free Lunch/Sample Saturdays at all of my local grocery haunts. Particularly, Costco on the right day.

If the stores are extinct, I will certainly miss the fresh seasonal beers from www.greatlakesbrewing.com...

(It was a funny article, but off topic.)

Understood, and your right, couldn't help it, transferred article to it's own thread, not trying to be off topic, just wanted to share, and was running out of time, thanks. Back to the store for now.

I read somewhere that beer doesn't store well. It goes bad so you can't stock up on it like wine or coke or chocolate.

That's very unfortunate. I will have to work on a new formula for dehydrated beer.

However, I think Schlitz Malt Liquor has a 12 year shelf life. I'll just bury some 40's in the garden.

All the things you can add water to...

Ramen
Brownies
Blueberry Muffins
Potatoes
Gravy
Dip
Hot Chocolate
Tang

etc...

Saves me from pretending I can cook... I'm a survivalist already in the kitchen!

Holy cheese lovers. You do realize its not all that hard to make cheese? Even from powdered milk if you had to in a pinch. Stockpile extra rennent and you should be able to keep yourself in cheese for awhile. Mozz is very easy.

For those that answer things such as chocolate, candy, ramen, etc... I truely hope you allready have a stockpile of these things and rotate your foodstuffs. Oddly no one put down flour or salt?

Beer doesnt store well and if it freezes, its over. Hard alcohol, rum, vodka, whiskey, etc... can store for eons if kept cool and in the dark.

I hate stores, and really only go to them to go to the bank. I do like Pepsi, and someday I may actually run out of salt. But I learned long ago that it is far cheaper, and better for you to learn how to make and store your own foodstuffs. Be it honey, beer, veggies, meats, sugar(from beets), tobacco, wine, flour, etc... Sure its a little more work, but sure beats watching TV and your not beholden to whatever the corporate and international powers that be want you eating.
