No doubt priceless writings have been destroyed throughout the ages. Another fine thread.

What an outstanding thread and post! It is troubling to me that many of these lost books and libraries end up the same way -- destroyed by intentional acts. We fear what we do not understand.

That's the most disturbing fact, much that is destroyed is destroyed because its potential is feared by someone. 95% of the time this is related to religious institutions and their ideologies (Spanish invasion of 1521). It's very sad how ignorant some people are as to what they are actually doing, they aren't destroying just the history of a single people, they're destroying the history of humanity as a collective.

The Gnostic's aka: Pagans filled libraries with their writings, 99.9% have been destroyed, only fragments are left. The Gnostic's were Cosmologists, Shaman's, Remote Viewers and were on the level of Yogi's, they actually mapped the heavens rather accurately and much of what they wrote is only now been validated by modern scientists. They wrote that our solar system was in a Galaxy which Hubble proved in the late nineteen thirties.

No one knows what's in it, so we don't know if it's important or not.

Nice thread!

Would you say that books have been destroyed in the past to stop us from finding the truth?

There must be tons of stuff which has gone missing with very important information which we were supposed to know....

Flagged!

I would say that some definitely have been. But I hold a somewhat vain hope that most of these have not been destroyed as even the most corrupt soul could understand the importance of certain texts. As long as they're not destroyed and even if they're locked up deep down in some vault its still fine... they'll surface eventually, maybe not in our lifetime, but they'll surface.

great post serbsta. you've opened up a whole lot of reading material/research for me into the inner workings of our past.. the way our society is structured today.. and the fundamental inner workings of individuals as a whole. i appreciate the info presented by you and the people who have responded as well. one text i want to bring up, as i am unable to start threads given the fact i just forfeited my lurker status and actually want to contribute now.

anyway..

The Kybalion: Written by (or at least referenced from) Hermes Trismegistus aka Hermes the Great aka The Great Great Great
www.kybalion.org...

google video:
www.metacafe.com...

this book seems to be potentially highly influential to me and my understanding of US or.. me.. (unless i'm just crazy..).. has anyone else read this? what are peoples thought on this text.. i would appreciate some discussion on the subject. to just read through, i would guess it would take an hour to two on average. to actually feel and understand, several readings may suffice. i myself have found a reading of it on google video, then converted it to mp3 and listened to it many times. anyone have any thoughts on this text, or any references as to where i could further my research on the contents of it? thanks and good day to all.

In all fairness this book as it has been called, "the lost book of Nostradamus", has several problems associated with it. It is made up of some 80 picture which have very slowly been presented to the internet most likely due to the numerous protests/demands of those interested. Nostradamus' books did not contain pictures as such like this one does, it was said that perhaps it was done by his son Cesar Nostradamus.
Nostradamus wrote in a "quatrain" style, or verses of four, and this book does not use this same four verse style but rather show various watercolor images.

The History channel (or Sci-Fi 2 channel as I call them) did a documentary on this book and the biggest mistake was linking it to 2012. This is presented as proof of an upcoming apocalyptic event, or end of the world-2012.
First of all, "apocalypse" does not mean 'doomsday' but rather it means unveiling or revelation, to reveal. These terms have been totally convoluted and through this perversion have lost all meaning.
Secondly Nostradamus predicted the end of the world somewhere in the 4th millennium AD not in the 3rd (2012). The History channel did an extremely poor job on this one as they made several mistakes, most importantly they failed to question the validity of this book ever belonging to or having been associated with Nostradamus. The validity is very much in question and there should have been a debate on this at least.

How old is this book?
I believe that it could be dated back to near Nostradamus' time but I doubt he wrote it or was even involved.

The History channels presentation of this book does nothing but discredits it in my opinion. Besides this is not a lost book as it is shown in the video and is very much "Not Lost". I suppose one could call this, "the misplaced book that has a possible Nostradamus connection".

two of the most horrendous and truly tragic crimes of mankind cut through my mind like rifts:

the burning of the library of alexandria (and all other libraries)

and the spanish inquisition. not only did the inquisitions ravage and destroy priceless and irreplacable knowledge, but they destroyed burgeoning civilizations and populations with their merciless and blind slaughtering, and spread of their diseases.

it makes my brain cringe, like the opposite feeling of being boggled.

if i could have my way, i would strip the vatican of all it's books and manuscripts they have hoarded out of fear, all their hoarded gold, and help build a neo-alexandrian library.
then turn the vatican and vatican city into an international prison for pedophiles.

edit: sorry but i don't have much else to add to this disucssion because, well... all the books are lost and unknown and i don't think many of us can do much else but speculate, lol, nice star farm though. still interesting.

Simply fascinating. Thank you very much for this thread Serbsta, lost books have always been in the top ranks of my favorite topics for discussion and this type of thread is the reason why I joined ATS to begin with. Contributions such as yours are what keep a lot of us coming back!

None of these books are lost or destroyed.

They are all in the library of the Vatican, which has access to all the information mankind has ever written, but they will never release that information to the public because it would mean chaos and anarchy.

Makes me think of the Vatican's 'secret' archives. 7 square miles is a whole lot of books, and they aren't too keen on letting anyone have a peek.

Coincidently I just watched a video by Carl Sagan, in which he also stresses the huge loss of information.

Enjoy.

Rubbish. The Library at Alexandria was destroyed before there was a Vatican, and so can't have a copy, also the Vatican library simply isn't large enough to hold all that information, so I'm gonna have to call you out on that one.

Hi serbstra, do you think there are libraries out there the public doesn't know about that holds banned or other books they don't want the public to read?

It is said Alexandria was burned to the ground....but when the hall of records is opened they will find that to be quite the opposite. Exciting times I tell you all over again.

You feel it inside. You know they are not destroyed. You can almost hear the words echoing in the chambers of your mind...stick with your gut...it never let you down before.
