Yet another great event captured by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, Jupiter and Mercury are both in view right now and are seemingly heading towards each other, they will only be 1 degree apart at their closest.

Also a coronal mass ejection from sunspots 1052 and 1053 will give a spectacular backdrop to the event.

You can keep an eye on the event HERE as well.

Jupiter and Mercury??
I thought they were UFOs!

Anyway, that's what the believers see! Gigantic alien ships near the Sun!

I expect to see a mention of them being UFO's somewhere soon.

Maybe even here at ATS (but most definitely NOT in this thread lol).

It's a shame that interesting things like this end up being sullied by liars and pseudo-scientists.

Very cool! S&F.

Yes, Spaceweather has become a Fav. of mine in the last year or so too.

Most people are completely unaware of the Fact the Sun does anything else, but heat/light our planet!

Come on chad, that is not jupiter and murcury. Nice try at promoting another NASA cover up.
I recognize the shape of Draco Star ships when I see 'em.
Those Annunaki planet class Draco Star Ships are preparing for an invasion.
I just saw V on T.V. I know its a sign.

Awesome images dude.

Might be a good time to observe Mercury using Jupiter as a marker. Mercury is so bloody hard to see. I've only observed it once when I was up a mountain in the country. Damn those city lights.

Good find!I first I thought some crazy was trying to say mercury was colliding with Jupiter, wouldn't be shocked. Keep up the good work.

Very nice S&F.

Though one question, how often does this actually happen?

I disagree....

Is it sayin they are converging together to make an impact? Considering that spaces dimensions are different than that 2d image I just say that there orbits are crossing from the angle of that "Observatory...station... thing".

Would you agree or diagree?

Wow! That was incredible! Loved that as motion is so much better than stills. Now I get the picture...thanks!

Somethings not right here... Jupiter is like 2 billion km away from mercury, so im confused as to what would bring them closer?

POV, It just appears that the 2 bodies are close when in fact they are not.
2nd line.

Yeah hopefully everyone realizes that their orbits simply are coming in line from the perspective of the satellite. There is no way Jupiter and Mercury could ever get close to one another. Unless a bigass asteroid hit Mercury and sent it flying off towards the outer planets. Besides, a Jupiter-Mercury impact would be more like Jupiter having nice planet meal, and Mercury would be the main course.

Edited to clarify perspective of satellite.

Yeah hopefully everyone realizes that their orbits simply are coming in line from our perspective here on Earth.

Well, from the perspective of the satelite taking the images, not Earth, The Satelite is between the orbit of Earth and Venus possibly not in line with the Earth and the Sun.

I first wanted to say thank you, I enjoy these threads.

Questions. Do all our planets revolve around the sun in the same direction? Do the moons revolve around there planets in the same direction? Or better yet! Where is a good source to find out? I have tried to you tube, not to sure about some of those models out there. ty
