There are some great strides being made in real time virus and biological materials detectors.

Detector

Are we ready to be screened in public places with this too? How about being banned from entering a sporting event because the machine says you can’t?

Would it make you feel safer getting on the airplane?

I can see all kinds of uses and abuses for this. Goes something like this…

Metal Detector... Check
F.A.S.T.... Check
Shoes... Check
Full Body Scan... Check
Body Cavity Probe... Check
Explosives Residue... Check
Virus Detection... FAIL

I'm sure we will buy these by the thousands, and give them to DHS so they can be lost or otherwise un-accounted for.

Anyway, another liberty...the one to be sick...goes away.

Been awhile since I heard the word SARS.

Whatever became of this virus?

Anyway, detectors could become a common place. IMO, government will place safety over privacy just about every time. At least, they will try to make us think it is about safety.

Sometimes I feel that these type of issues are decided more on the interest of a few select companies rather than the general welfare of the population.

jam321...thanks for the bump! The SARS virus is still in the wild, and has been found in limited cases mostly in poor economic environments. It has mutated some, and is a little less virile and contagious at this point. It will continue to mutate though and we as humans will be the host again.

The detector is on the outside a good thing i suppose...but I do have an issue with it's secondary implementation. I do not want to see it lost and used to adjust the virility of a biological agent in a WMD sense. When I see the ability of a virus (or the fear of a virus) to bring a population to it's knees, and make them mission ineffective...some red flags go up with the ability to real time monitor it.

I believe the paulhewsonexperience predicted this years ago. He also warned us of the judge, well, not so much a warning as a vision of his better society.

Remember....FEAR is our ALLY. Soon the gasoline will be ours....
