A right-wing blogger charged with threatening federal judges told a jury Thursday that his racist Internet rants were an FBI-sanctioned ruse to "flush out" dangerous neo-Nazi and white supremacist members of his audience.

"I'm not a white supremacist," Hal Turner testified at a retrial in Brooklyn. "Never have been."

Turner, 47, has used his testimony to detail his career as a paid informant for an FBI agent investigating extremists. Prosecutors haven't disputed he was an informant, but say he acted on his own last year when he wrote that three federal judges in Chicago "deserv

This is a strange story. At first, it seems outrageous, but apparently this person is saying his whole public persona is actually a honey-trap for militia-minded lunatics, i.e. crazy people who happen to be into guns and survival.

Apparently, the government is trying to root out domestic terrorists before they can start something and call it a movement.

I welcome your thoughts and perspectives, ATS. Most of us are level-headed, although we all rant from time to time. One hopes that these types of comments would not be considered a serious threat to the government, of course.

But this drives home the fact that when people use free speech to threaten the constitutional right of any other human being to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it will be noticed, especially if said human is a member of the government or infrastructure.

Discretion is the better part of valor. I believe, as always, a civilized approach to one another and to any topic we wish to discuss will go far in preventing misunderstandings, and would provide just enough self-restraint to help us all continue to express ourselves without fear or censorship. Anyone who wants to start a bloody revolution is usually ignored.

Should they be dealt with openly, and confronted on the merits of their position?

Should they continue to be ignored, even if it draws attention to our site? Won't that attention be around anyway?

Wow that is an incredible twist to that story.

I am quite baffled.

Something tells me he might actually be telling half the truth here at least...

Is this not an actual reversal of the entire judicial process?

Is the FBI REALLY doing Minority Report arrests now? Even being so helpful as to provide the crime already neatly fitting all the rules of evidence needed for convictions?

Don't people have enough problems already without their worst parts being cultivated and then used against them?

I've been watching this story for a while now.

I also find it funny that 4chan hacked this guys computers in 2006, leading to an investigation by the FBI (and world fame for the group).

4chan Internet Attacks

It is my personal belief that both Hal and 4chan (along with many other high profile trouble makers) are actually being paid by our government to gather information on radicals (and/or hype them towards illegal actions) within our country and abroad.

Hal Turner is a disgusting little farce with a limited vocabulary and a disturbing message to share (just like 4chan). Both have ties to FBI and CIA.

If the government has Hal in their pocket...it leads one to wonder-

"who else have they purchased?"

I am sure that they didn't stop at buying one racist to help them spy on Americans. I am willing to bet that they have bought more then a handful of "outlets and forums" to better assist them in keeping tabs on us.

If that is true...it leads one to think-

"so if they have purchased people like this, then who are those that have been bought?"

Hard question to answer, but I always say-

"The best way to find purchased provocateurs is to locate and identify who is spreading radical agendas to very large audiences of unbalanced people".

Meaning....who in the media is getting away with saying crap that would end the rest of us in jail, all the while gaining publicity and funding without being shut down.

I have a long list of people who I think are actually working for the government, along with reasons for each one.

I personally think Hal WAS working for the FBI...I think the second 4chan hacked his systems, the FBI raided 4chan's "founder and owner" (at the time- a 15 year old boy named Moot) and gave him an offer as well.

After all...how can a site that publishes child porn and endless illegal content be allowed to maintain itself on the internet when countless sites that mimic its content and policies are all shut down within hours-to-days of their creation.

Hal was working for the FBI IMHO

And there are many other high-profile provocateurs within the media and on the internet.

Take it or leave it...but I personally believe certain agencies within the government are invested in running and advertising these "provocateurs" while they do little or nothing to stop them.

It is the only way I can see how these illegal entities are allowed for years to spread criminal content and instructions without being shut down.
