i remember when i died;
i was on a beach drinking beer;
then all of the sudden the sun kept comming closer and closer to me;
thoughts ran through my head OHH MYYY GODD ITS ALIVEEEE;

and then;
all of the sudden;
i was traveling through outer space at more than a million trillion miles per second;
stars and planets were just a blur;
like i was on a cosmic rollarcoaster;
next thing i know;
im in a room filled with people with technology that looked like it has evolved over billions of years litterally;
and i was amazed;
i told myself i will never forget this;
they told me its not my time;
i have to go back;
and BOOM;
im back in my body like WHAT THE #KKKKKKK

Something will indeed happen! History channel will have to come up with 80 percent of their new program list for 2013 because most of it now is "YOU"RE GOING TO DIE!" programming.

I'm glad you believe in science.
The interview with Kaku is from December of 2008. In May of 2009 the forecast was modified.

The Solar Cycle 24 Prediction Panel has reached a consensus decision on the prediction of the next solar cycle (Cycle 24). First, the panel has agreed that solar minimum occurred in December, 2008. This still qualifies as a prediction since the smoothed sunspot number is only valid through September, 2008. The panel has decided that the next solar cycle will be below average in intensity, with a maximum sunspot number of 90. Given the predicted date of solar minimum and the predicted maximum intensity, solar maximum is now expected to occur in May, 2013. Note, this is a consensus opinion, not a unanimous decision. A supermajority of the panel did agree to this prediction.

You people who compare the Y2K fiasco to 2012 are hilarious. At least do some research on the subject before you post anything.

All I gotta say is.....

Take a look around at the unfolding events occuring right
in front of your very eyes.

Pull the wool over them and maybe, just maybe, you will
come to a realization that it's not the specific date that will
change this world... it's the events that unmeasurably speed
up as we approach this "prophesized" date, 12-21-2012 that
will change our world.

One question for you.....

Why did you create this thread?

IMHO this is a very important point. I think science is not something to 'believe' in. Science is about having an open mind, knowing we don't understand much of what is going on, checking the facts and trying to make some sense out of them. But always keeping in mind that we don't actually understand most of what is going on and that even the facts we have are full of noise. Science is about THEORIES. Some appear stronger at some point, some weaker, but suddenly weaker theories may gain strength when new data is found, and the other way round. Science is about THEORIES and keeping all of them in mind.

We do not need fundamentalism even among scientists.

Nothing will happen in 2012 which is out of the ordinary... i have lost count how many "freak" dates like this we have had with mountains of proof "what we thought at the time" that were thought was real.

This is another one of those events where sombody has nit picked bits from all around and come to the conclusion that something amaizing or bad will happen in 2012.

im sorry but you doomsayers will have to get your doom fix elsewhere, nothing is gonna happen.

I believe in science.

I believe that the scientific method is an effective means of learning about the world around us. I believe it is far more effective than blind speculation which ignores established evidence. I do not believe there is any ultimate knowledge. I believe that, through science, we will continue to expand our horizons.

They may want to revise their forecasts yet again, the sun has exploded with activity since the beginning of the year. I still believe this solar max will be the strongest we have ever seen, and will deffintely blow away their guestimate of 90 sun spots... I guess no one really knows what will happen, but with the way things are going in general, even if nothing happens in 2012/2013, our end is still in the crosshairs.

You know people have been wrongly perdicting that the world was going to end for over a millenia. From the first solar eclipse that was wittnessed to trying to interpet the bible. People have always said the world was going to end for some reason or another. There were people that "perdicted" the world would come to an end because we were engulfed in war after war during the crusades. then you have people that said Neopolian was the antichrist then hitler and so on and so on. Oh and lets not forget notrodumbass that correctly perdicted everything after it already happened. If your religious the our world has been on the way to ending since cain killed able. Personally I do think the world will end. Eventully we will destroy ourselves either during a full out nuclear world war or by dealing with technology that we know very little or nothing about. I believe fully in freewill not destiny. We (the human race) have no experiation date. By giving into these perdictions you are effectively saying that you have no freewill. If you believe so much in this 2012 world destruction BS then why dont you just sell all your worldly belongings and party for the next 2yrs.

I agree with that. But I am convinced that 'blind trust' is always dangerous. Science as a religion. Fundamentalism. Blind trust in the work of other scientists. Some times data is kept secret and some times it is just manipulated. See the whole man-induced climate change issue. It is a fact that most scientists rely on third party funds and so they are vulnerable to political agendas. Not all of them, I think most of them are just honest people, but a few are corrupt for sure. It is quite easy to forget science and concentrate in ego issues, and the pursue of wealth. This has happened, happens and will happen. And it must be taken into account.

A scientist, regarding a weak theory that is mostly speculative, can say that there is no evidence to support it or that it contradicts some existing data, but should never to say it is 100% wrong. A scientist is never 100% sure. Like you have said, "I do not believe there is any ultimate knowledge". Just approximations to the truth.

I am interested in truth, not in egos, prophets, political agendas, trolls or fanboys, and we see plenty of that in ATS. An example is people saying "on 2012-12-21 nothing will happen, 100% guaranteed".

There is no solid evidence something relevant will happen, sure, but that is not the same as 'nothing will happen'.

Oh please, than enlighten us on the great planetary shift... Or is it converting our time to the 13 moon cycle? Or is it NWO? Or is it aliens? Consciousness expansion, next step in human evolution? Galactic, planetary alignment? Geomagnetic reversal, Solar implosion? Photon belt? Nibiru? Even timewave zero? Take your pic, I have researched them all and none of them are based on any evidence.

Instead of anticipating change, why don't we actively participate in it.

One thing we know for sure is that noboby knows for sure what will happen. All we have to go on are the facts we have in hand and the writings of those that came before us. The ancients that wrote down the story seemed to have had a better grasp of time and the universe than we do. The calendar hanging on your wall really is just something to jot notes on when it comes to the ebb and flow of the universe. The Earth is still here after all these years and we know life has continued here against all odds so I think I'll bet on us.....
