Last night around midnight something strange went through the sky in Hungary. The number one Hungarian news source has an article about it and also the tv channels shown a video of the phenomen. They don't know exactly what it was. Maybe a meteorite maybe UFO or something similar to the Norway sky spiral. If I find more sources I will post. ( sorry for my bad English)

note: as you can see on the video there are 4 flashes. I don't think that a meteorite would do that.

Interesting,

Probably Meteor but it was very bright and seems widespread.

OP can you speak Hungarian? and see the range of the flash, from reports?

With the Norway incident and weather still wrecking havoc in Europe...

Mmm

Yes I do speak Hungarian.

As witnesses said it has no sound and the interesting thing is that when it reachead the surface disappeard. I mean a meteorit would left visible evidence e.g. a hole. But nothing has found yet.

Here is the location

Actually they do explode and light up the sky when it happens ...also they leave a contrail that kind of sparkles. Quite an impresive event to see and not that rare.

Still, the witnesses said it had no sound. It´s impossible for it to have no sound, either the witnesses are lying or something weird is going on.

i have read several comments (around 160) and no-one has mentioned sound just lightning. Maybe it was a meteorite but in that case a really weird one.

"People in parts of North Hungary and in Slovakia have experienced unusual sound and light phenomena on Sunday night. The rhythmically repeating sound and light occurrences were heard and seen in the large area from Kassa to Záhogy, but the majority of observations were registered in the Ózd, Kazincbarcika, Miskolc and Putnok area. According to people's descriptions, authorities thought it was a meteor shower, but the area over these phenomena were experienced is too large and no craters have been found neither. Furthermore, people saw a white light, but the light that can be seen at the time of a meteor shower is red. Another possible explanation is that it was an unusual meteorological event, similar to Polar Lights, but that is never accompanied by any sound. As the explanations above do not seem reasonable, it is also possible that it was an UFO. The Disaster Management is still investigating and looking for people who have witnessed this mysterious phenomena."

thanks the information so some of the witness experienced sound too. Maybe the ones who wrote comments were too far from the phenomen and did not hear anything

The ones we witnessed during the Leonid meteor shower didn't either. Remember were talking a

several witnesses said: the "thing" seemed as it hit the ground just in the neighborhood. So it was really close to them. You felt the same during The Leonid?

No, we never felt anything. Don't get me wrong , I know that UFO's are out there, seen 3. Just letting you know that the ones I saw were giving off light even kinda flash/phazing if you know what I mean? But did'nt light up the sky.

Relax,im on your side.

Alright, alright i recon my previous statement was somewhat erroneous so i´ll try to correct it.

The possibility has arisen that it was a meteor shower, most of the meteors are smaller than a grain of salt, so that explains that there were no craters.

As there are indeed much of these meteors, as they collide with the Earth´s Atmosfere they disintegrate sending a bright light in the horizon, that may explain the lights they saw.

Now there´s the sound... the error in the theory... it could have been that the meteors were closer to the surface, generating extremely loud noises, i refer to hunman:

several witnesses said: the "thing" seemed as it hit the ground just in the neighborhood. So it was really close to them.

This also may be the cause of the light.

That´s it, that´s all i know, if i´m wrong please do correct me.

Some updates:

Authorities said that the phenomenon was maybe a meteorite although there are some problems with it.

-a meteorite has red light when it is in the atmosphere. In that case the light was white.

-as I read more comments not only Hungarians but also Czech and Slovakian witnesses said that they heard a really loud explosion. A meteorite doesn't affect such a large area.

-a brighter meteorite has a magnitude of -4( it is called bolida or fireball) The Moon has a magnitude of -12.6 (Sun: 28) This "thing" had a magnitude of -15,6. Too weird.

-The Slovakian army has started an investigation and some news source said that it wasn't a meteorite.
