Our planet is not dying, nor will it ever. We have only been doing our killing portion for 4000-5000 years MAX. If you look back at the dinosaur age, you will understand that the world has been in worse shape.

I am not saying that we are not contributing to death of thousands of species because that would be a lie. All I am saying is that life always finds a way to bounce back even in the brink of extinction.

There have been many animals that we thought were surely extinct, until they came back.

We will find a way to make it work. Remember, nature's ability to grow is infinite if we utilize it correctly.

One link I will present in a post of its own.
It will take you to a web page where you can also find a list with everything on the extinction event we are living in.

www.well.com...

The Current Mass Extinction:
Human beings are currently causing the greatest
mass extinction of species since the extinction of
the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. If present trends
continue one half of all species of life on earth will
be extinct in less than 100 years, as a result of
habitat destruction, pollution, invasive species,
and climate change. (For details see links below.)
Scroll Down For Hundreds Of Links:
This website began on April 22, 1998 with the posting
of the article below. (The article is still here to provide
historical context.) Following the article are more than
300 links to recent authoritative reports and updates
about the current mass extinction. New articles are
added regularly. (Most recent update May 13, 2010.)

I also placed this link in my own thread in the OP.
More people should see it.

Take care and ...On a better world.

Our planet is not dying, nor will it ever.

One day our Sun will burn off all of its hydrogen... as this happens the Sun will swell in size and consume the Earth as it turns into a Red Giant... So the earth will one day die!!

However, maybe my wording was not scientifically accurate in the sense that, no matter what we do, the earth will still be here...

I just felt that the title...

"We are seriously affecting the planets ability to sustain the level of biodiversity that we are accustomed to and this will eventually pose a threat to humanity"

Was, although accurate, a little long winded

So, I stand by my decision to title it "our world is dying" especially when you consider that many of the species that make up "our world" are currently in crisis...

Peace

As much as I wish it not to be true, I do in fact feel as if Mother Earth is very very sick at the moment. I burst out in tears today because I felt how much pain and hurt she is going through.

After that, I laid on the ground and hugged her for 3 hours, to show her at least some humans still care about her and take the time to show her the respect and pure aloha that she deserves.

No mess wit da Aina.
