the following excerpt is from the documentary 'the secret life of plants' which was based on a book with the same name written by peter tompkins and christopher bird back in 1973....

"It's a beautiful documentary but it is quite long which is sad for the valuable point it makes. I cant think of anything that could be more important."

a must see for every1.... enjoy

Wow great avatar.

S&F for you. Good thread, I haven't seen that doc in ages, I should watch it again.

Plants are truly connected to the earth, both literally and figuratively. For an organism that has no limbic or nervous systems per se, to sense things beyond physical or environmental inputs is truly a miracle.
Considering that large portions of this earth can contain literally thousands of different plants in a square meter, is awe-smiting.

Great Documentary, watched it about a year ago. Stevie wonder did an album that was the soundtrack for this, you should check it out.

I still have a copy of that book, and when I am feeling especially disconnected from everyone and everything around me, I pull it out and read it.

It just goes to show that what we think and feel to ourselves does affect everything around us.

Thanks for that video, OP! I can't wait to show it to others. I plan to conduct some experiments of my own with plant consciousness this Spring and Summer. I've been reading a book called Plant Spirit Healing which may be similar to the book you mentioned. I'll look your book up on Amazon later.

I've got the book of this, it's awesome. Its pretty much just talking about different scientific experiments but the first few chapters are enough to blow you away.

I'll say no more. GET THE BOOK!

I keep thinking to myself to make a thread about this too, i'm glad someone finaly did. I think it was done a few times over the year actually but one of these should be pinned to the damn forum. Its friggin incredible and needs to get more attention.

This guy Masaru Emoto is a pretty cool dude too, talking about water and lends more to idea of how thoughts resonate like with these plants in the mentioned book / movie.

What a wonderful book, one which I have read many times, I actually have two copies so that I can loan one out to friends and still know that I can read it whenever I want to.
I starred and flagged this thread because I believe that everyone should read this book and others by the same authors e.g. Secrets of the Soil.
I live in Africa and have not had the opportunity to see the documentary, how sad, I feel that I am really missing out now! Hopefully one day soon!

edited to correct title of book!

Also if you enjoyed this you should try "Supernature" and others by Lyall Watson

What Masuru Emoto discovered may indeed be what is happening in the examples shown in the film "secret life of plants". Emoto's work was solely with water which is in each and every living being. What I'm saying is that it is possible it isn't the plant itself that is responding to the stimuli but it is the WATER IN THE PLANTS that is responding.
Along these same lines Rupert Sheldrake, a pioneering biologist, has written several books that you might find interesting. The Presence of the Past and Rebirth of Nature are 2 titles that I enjoyed.
Great post, every kid in school should watch the secret life of plants.

These videos are really old, but they seem to produce some profound results from their experiments. So what went wrong? Why is this not common knowledge? Why are these experiments not continued and improved upon until we know the why and how?

Great book! Some of the experiments are amazing!

Hooked up to a polygraph machine the plants were able to tell who was lying!

They also knew when he was really going to cut a leaf and when he was only pretending to.....Reading our thoughts?

They would show a response when a living creature (spider, shrimp) was killed in the same room...Picking up on pain?

Peace

For all of our supposed knowledge we still have had only a hand full of animals that may have been able to communicate with us. How much arrogance does it take for us to assume we are the apex of the animal or even plant world? Because plants have a dramatically different evolutionary path, we see them a scenery and not vital living things. Well most people.

What would it be like if we could communicate to dogs, cats or even whales? And I don't mean commands I mean conversations.

Thanks for sharing. S+F

I remember seeing a thread on ATS about a year or so ago, when I first joined, wich was also about this subject. It was really interesting.
