That's essentially what I am saying. I do not see Hindus as being hateful of Christians at all. I think this is a ploy to raise a big stink by the powers that be. Like I said, the power structure always loves for there to be religious and sectarian warfare.

i am a Christian, and i cant say that any mocking of the Lord makes me happy. however im very strict with myself when it comes to treading on other poeples free will. i believe thats a very Personal Gift kinda like freedom of speech.

i dont think this belongs in a childrens book, However i do have a few bones to pick about the whole idea that jesus holding a "beer and cigarette" is somehow bad.

i know how they are portrayed as bad in todays society, but honestly if you actually do the research theres a myriad of evidence showing jesus used both cannabis and wine. i think were just assuming thats tobacco hes holding.

i havent seen any evidence that he SMOKED cannabis, its very plausable as it was an ingredient in the annointing oil, and a valued commodity at the time (the original hebrew and aramaic texts call it "Kaneh-Bosm"...kign james later changed it to "Calamus"...u can find the recipe in exodus)

bunch of scriptures come to mind.

Genesis 1:29 "Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Psalm 104:14-15

"He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for man to cultivate—
bringing forth food from the earth:"

" wine that gladdens the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine,
and bread that sustains his heart."

Paul said to the Romans:
Romans 14:2,3,13,14,17

"One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way.As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

Ezekial 34:29 (king james)

"And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more."

1 Tim 4: 1-6
(paul i think? Predicts prohibition)

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained."

-- Paul's Prediction here is dead on with our Governments current stance on cannabis.we've been told "lies in hypocrisy" (cannabis bad, alcohol ok), plants are creatures of God too and are deemed "Good" if recived in thanksgiving. and according to Paul, simply reminding this to my brehtren makes me a good minister of Jesus Christ.

just because *some* poeple screw up their lives with things like smoking and drinking doesnt mean that alcohol and cannabis were created to screw up lives. they were made to put our hearts at peace and be Glad. if your really so worried about Bad thoughts and what not then say a prayor before you take the substances much like some do before they eat dinner, if it worries you that much.

continued...

Jesus supposedly turned water into wine so I don't see how anyone could have a problem with this. Heck most Family Guy episodes involving Jesus are ten times this offensive

People take themselves too seriously.

the first appearance of cannabis (kaneh-Bosm) in the bible is when GOD is speaking to Moses telling him what herbs and spices he wants included in the recipe for Incense that the will be burning in the taburnacle. we all know what happens when burned cannabis is inhaled and if it were bad in Gods eyes why would he be telling Moses to do it?

im not saying Jesus was a pothead, but for all we know thats a joint and a glass of wine. my point is its not a bad thing. The real conspiracy here is why we all think they are.

Christianity in India is a minority religion, and therefore is often a target of hatred on the part of others. Even Hindus and Budhist can be hateful.

The picture is inappropriate in an text book.

The picture is further inappropriate for defining the word "Idol."

Ask a Christian from India sometime about their experience of the bunnies and light and acceptance that they feel from their neighbours.

www.aina.org...

www.stephen-knapp.com...

This one is interesting because it comes from the other perspective. Where essentially the guy is crying because people might HEAR about Christianity and that might APPEAL to them. Nasty people - talking out of order. Or that people going to Christian churches give money for miracles. You know, instead of gong to a temple and praying that if that God will let you get pregnant you'll give your first child to that temple so that they can abuse them and turn them into street urchins to beg for money. Which is apparently better because its more indigenous.

www.persecution.org...

An entire political party that opposes stopping persecution against Christians that you think doesn't exist. Interesting policy take, considering Hindus would NEVER do that.

Not hard to find this stuff, and common sense should tell you that minorities in an area are often not well received. Particularly in areas of hardship and lack of education....which describes most of rural India.

Oh that's okay. Yeah there is obviousy some power trying to continously carry out warefare; maybe they feel pleasre from the torture of others or have a great masterplan. Whatever it is. It's sick.

What I find amazing is that now all of a sudden, every other religion is a Christ hater..... First it was Islam, which doesn't surprise me. They have never been pro anything other than their stringent religion. Now, supposedly, the Hindu "hate" Christians too. Hmmmmm, sounds like a classic Psychological operation by the powers that be to me.

Now that's a bit silly considering the famous Christian leader televangelists Pat Robertson bashing Hinduism with remarks that are regarded as anti-Hindu denouncing Hinduism as "demonic" and evoking similar canards against Hinduism.
CHRISTIAN PAT ROBERTSON DENOUNCES HINDUISM AS "DEMONIC"
Other: www.webcitation.org...

Other Fundamentalist Christian evangelicals such as Albert Mohler have defended the anti-Hindu remarks and made disparaging statements about Hinduism as "satanic", laced together with anti-Buddhist and Islamophobic rhetoric.
Source: Not to be outdone by Robertson, Mohler claimed that Buddhism, Hinduism, and Marxism are "demonstration[s] of satanic power"

The use of Hindu God images on toilet seat and footwear in USA?

I believe it has nothing to do with any powers just ignorant and uneducated people with bigoted views which can be found in all parts of globe. Sure some people do it for power too but mostly that's not the case and specially not in the Jesus picture case.

It is a TEXT BOOK. Not a joke thread.

It is inappropriate, both as educational material and directed at that age group.

If that isn't clear to you, you have an axe to grind and don't care at whose expense.

This is good news
why?

Because India, being a region in the world with alot of tension, has such a small small minute christian population.

Nonetheless the politicians/school board decided to do the politically correct thing and throw the book out.

Nice!

Well, for one it's about money and power. The "controllers" have given their minds to Mammon or, if you prefer, materialism. Once a person has done that, there really isn't any turning back.

Secondly, you are right, it is sick. They, the "controllers," have absolutely no feeling whatsoever for the masses. They view most of us as play things. If they find out that you're not to be played with, they do one of two things to you.

1. Imprison you.

2. Kill you.

By the way, Robertson denounces everything that doesn't fall in line with his radicalism. The man is an idiot. The only difference between him and Osama bin Laden is that he hasn't killed anyone that we know of.

Mammon, as in the false god in the New Testament?

If there was a massive group rebelling against them; let’s say a few thousand; would there be any hope for us? Or would there be a mass extermination? How would they cover that? By a "natural disaster" or something?

Aeons, I dont know where you are from, however, Hinduism never preached to hate other religions, it simply said, there are many paths to god, none is superior or inferior. The main stream Hindu society has never denounced any religion. However centuries of persecution of Hindus has given birth to a narrow band of hardliner Hindus.
Oh yeah, everything has an equal and opposite reaction. This was placed in a textbook as a reaction.
Early in school we were taught "EVILS OF THE HINDU SOCIETY" 1. Caste System 2. Sati system 3 DOWRY system.4.Polygamy. However, I would like to shed light that at the same period and time we had other faiths in India which had evils too. For example, Islam has a system where the Man can have more than 3 wives. The Mohammedans should raze a temple down wherever they see. They should kill chameleon wherever they see. The Dowry system was never a part of Hindu society at all, neither was the concept of arranged marriage, of the vedic culture. It all came with the Islamic Invaders in the 8-9th century. The Christian attitude in India is very very offensive. The Church n North East have funded the separatists in a joint venture with the Chinese Intelligence folks and have only killed Hindus of NE. The church in Karnataka state have published Hindu Pornography books. They have described about the fictitious sexual habits of the Hindu gods and taught them to kids from 7 years onwards. Is it not wrong on their part to do so?
India is a Secular country, actually sickular country!
Regarding the caste system: well it was never a part of our vedic culture, it was said, no body is born with a caste, everyone is allotted a caste by the karma of this present life. Only when Islamic invaders penetrated India and wanted to find a chink in the armour of the religion of this country, on teh sword's blade they made the Brahmins to change the stance on "caste by actions" to caste by birth. And made the brahmins propagate that the brahmins and khastriyas were the only supreme caste and rest are to be oppressed. There is a very strong evidence of all this, I would post a thread on it some other time. And regarding my family's history which is linked to this. And how some of my ancestors decided to retreat and live to tell the truth to the world.
Sati system: well, as it happened that Sultan Muhammad Ala-ud-din Khan Khilji went to the Rajput king's court and asked the king's wife as a concubine. To which the Hindu Rajput asked him to get lost. However Sultan Muhammad Ala-ud-din Khan Khilji, came with an army to have it sorted out with a war! The Army of the sulatn was far more superior in numbers, The Rajput King's wife decided to burn herself at her husband's funeral pyre rather than be molested by the invading army and so she did. Rest of the women folks of the Hindu kingdom made it sure to Burn themselves up in a similar way. So at last the invading army found nothing but ashes at Chittorgarh. Unfortunately in Rajastan this got a bit corrupted and the Rajputs of later generations forced it on some of their women folks. However this system was restricted to one state only. And now this thing is not followed in India.
If you want to disagree with my points, you would find ways to express your disagreement, because I cannot and I am not here to convince anyone. At no point of time, I intend to showoff a holier than thou attitude. I am just trying to clear out the misconception majority of people have about our lot.
Namaste,
Sai

PS: Evils of other religions were glorified in our social science textbooks. I swear on that.
