I don't know, why don't you U2U him and ask him? A thread started to ask members what another member would do? Hmm. I'm starting a thread to see if Violater1 would not log onto ATS anymore if I asked him. Watch for it!

Maybe... Just maybe we have a right to know?

After all this forum would be nothing without the hard work of everyone, including forum members.

Not at all...

But it's not illegal to talk and speak and be human.

Why would they shut it down it would be used as a tool. I think it has already started to tell you the truth. I have noticed mods pushing threads a certain way. Like letting some speech fly and censoring other speech. I don't care as long as the rules are fair across the board. But when one post gets pulled and then another stays and it is the same message but opposite sides it makes you wonder.

I think mod's should have the threads they pull posted for all of us to see. I bet you would find patterns and no matter what side you fall on censorship is a bad thing the worm can turn against you. Everything could very well seem alright on the outside but subtle tweaking could be at work here.

I was just kidding about that Violater1. I read the title of the thread and wondered, why not just U2U him and ask him? Then I decided to make a post and as I wrote it, I wondered if I made a thread to ask you something similar. I believe Skeptic is just like everyone else, with a lot more responsibilities. I apologize if I offended and I will edit that part out of my post if you want. Just wondering, why wouldn't you just ask him? Or was the point of the thread to stimulate speculation as to what he would do? I don't know. Let me know, I will edit that out my friend. Sorry if I got you ticked off.

I edited that part out of my last post already, and gave you a flag and star because I guess that it was a good idea for a thread after all. I know nothing.

Why shut down a perfectly good source for identifying domestic security threats?

Skepticoverlord will shut down ATS the moment it costs far more to keep running then he can personally afford.

If big internet business and special government interests have their way, the costs of running sites like ATS may be prohibitive in the future.

Until then, stand up, post dissent and anti-government/anti-administration rants all you want... As long as it is T&C compliant, and does not otherwise conflict with the discretion of site owners and staff.

The one thing none of you brain dead on this site have even considered.All of us are probably using an internet provider to access the web and this forum.

What if one day you log on and them try to go to Ats and it says, "Access Denied please contact your internet provider for more information."

You call them up and ask what gives?

They tell you to read their terms and conditions that you didn't read when you signed up for the service.

Then you find out that they all have blocked access to certain sites.The government didn't tell them to,they just did it themselves.

Because you see we don't control the internet and the government doesn't own it,THEY DO.

And there would be nothing you could do.

You trash that other dude for talking about internet 2 but uh if I remember correctly the Australians and now the French can and do censor the internet already!!! And yeah the Ausltralian list of sites that are censored which are supposed to only contain "terrorist" and "pedophile" sites was shown blocking politically oriented sites that spoke badly about their gov. so wake up man it's not that far away!

I believe that the answer to this is yes. If you have been here long enough you are aware that there have been things removed in the past to comply with laws. I once had a big discussion about this with SO, back in the day, because it seemed kind of pointless to run a conspiracy site where anything that was a true conspiracy, or leaked information, would be deleted to be compliant with legal threats made on the Admin. SO’s point was that you cannot fight them, as they would remotely take it down for you, then come seize the servers. So for example, if someone actually leaked a real top-secret document on something like UFO’s, it would be remotely removed by the PTB, the site taken down, the servers seized, and possible legal action taken against the admins. We have actually watched them do this to the Indymedia servers once over a leaked image of an undercover agent at a protest. A member here was banned, and the thread immediately trashed for them bringing the same photos, and attempting to post them here on ATS.
