Undoubtedly, one of the prime reasons why Dick attracted attention from the FBI was a series of bizarre letters he penned to the Bureau in the early 1970s, in which he described his personal knowledge of an alleged underground Nazi cabal that was attempting to covertly manipulate science fiction writers to further advance its hidden cause.

I am an avid fan of PKD - I find this fascinating. I had read about his obsession with the burglary in question but this throws a whole new angle upon it. It truly reads like one of his novels/short stories. I think he was definately a kind of conspiracy pro-genitor of sorts - seeing reality itself as a conspiracy. By the way his time in Canada was I believe spent at least partially in an institution.
