'Europeans' wanted over Hamas Dubai murder

Police in Dubai investigating the killing of a Hamas militant say the suspects are 11 people with European passports.

Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was murdered in his hotel room in Dubai on 20 January.

Dubai's police chief Lt Col Dhafi Khalfan Tamim said the professional hit squad were using six British passports, three Irish, one French and one German passport.

So they're saying a green light was given to a spy network to whack this guy? Forget aliens, this is a bonafide conspiracy.

What's he doing at a luxury Dubai hotel anyway? Are some Hamas members well to do or are they just VIP in the Arab World? Not very jihaddy (struggle).

What nation in the region has many people of European descent and doesn't like Hamas....

Answer that and you'll know who these guys are after.

I seriously doubt that a group of professional assassins would be using their real passports while carrying out an assassination. So I'll remain skeptical on their nationalities at the moment. They might not even be European for all we know.

Hey great summary article. Still confusing with all the nationalities involved. But as stated, two Palestinians were arrested with Euro passports. Confusing.

Mossad is known for its deep cover agents. One was so deep he was third in line to the presidency of Syria.

Now you have to ask one why the body was ever found.(left as a warning to hamas that there leaders can be killed at any time and place)
And two why the body had signs of torture.(Now Hamas has to change any plans they had because Mossad may know them all. Or they may not. They could have just killed him with a bullet or poison.)

There are more ways to fight a war then troops shoting at each other.

Both are likely true.

How well was he liked by his own group?

This could be a "kill two birds with one stone" thing: endgame of an internal power struggle using mercenaries to cloud the water and score international political points.

Just an alternate possibility, one of many.

All the passports are fake identities. My guess is that they are freelancers hired by Mossad. These freelancers probably didn't even know who they were working for as they were probably hired through some intermediary.

This investigation probably won't go very far but we can hope.

I saw this on the news last night, very interesting when you see them change into their disguises, looks like something out of a movie. I immediately thought Mossad, but why ere they so lax as to get caught on so many cctv cameras?

This has got Mossads dirty fingers all over it!

Israel starts flying warplanes into Lebanese airspace daily. Now they're assasinating Hamas guys in Dubai.

There's some interesting information in THIS ARTICLE, which if true could open even more cans of worms.

According to a Dubai "source" of The Independent – readers will have to judge what this means – the security forces of the aforesaid emirate informed a "British diplomat" in Dubai (presumably the consul, since the embassy is in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi) of the UK passport details almost six days ago and "did not receive an appropriate reply". If this is true – the Foreign Office will be wrathful in its denials – then why didn't the British immediately express their outrage at the use of forged British passports and cough up details of the equally outrageous frauds a week ago? This misuse puts every British citizen at risk.

The Dubai authorities apparently gave the British the (allegedly) forged Irish passports under the misapprehension that Dublin was still a major city of the United Kingdom. Things, needless to say, changed in Dublin almost a hundred years ago – although how many readers can name the date of Dubai's independence from British rule? – but this elementary mistake suggests that the Dubai version of events (the inexplicable failure of the British to explain their silence) may contain a distressing truth. Don't we (the British? Gordon Brown? etc, etc) care when killers use supposedly British passports?

How can they not get caught on the cameras? The cameras are there, nothing you can do about it. Hence the disguises entering and leaving the room.
