I dedicate this song to every person that tells me I or anyone else MUST pick a side.

All the children say
WE HATE LOVE
WE LOVE HATE
I am so All-American, I'll sell you suicide
I am totalitarian, Ive got abortions in my eyes
I hate the hater, I'd rape the raper
I am the animal who will not be himself
*f word* it (x4)
Hey victim, should i black your eyes again
Hey victim, you are the one who put the stick in my hand
I am the ism, my hates a prism
lets just kill everyone and, your god sort them out
*f word* it(x4)
Everybody's someone else's *n word*
I know you are so am I
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers
I don't need to choose a side
I Better better better better
Not say this
Better better better better
Not tell
Better better better better
Not say
better better better better
not tell
I hate the hater, I'd rape the raper
I am the idiot who will not be himself
*f word* it (x4)
Everybody's someone else's *n word*
I know you are so am I
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers
I don't need to choose a side
America cannot see anything (x3)
Unless he was ridden by you
*f word* it (x4)
Everybody's someone else's *n word*
I know you are so am I
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers
I don't need to choose a side

Crouched within these hard coarse lyrics and heavy music there is a great truth. Is it weakness to resist the urgings of human nature and peer pressure to walk a moderate path? I think not.
It's far easier to pick a side and lose yourself in it confusing your subjective opinion with objective truth. As most tend to do.

Is that the modern angst-filled way of saying this...?

In reality there is no sides only what we think we know and our opinion that one is a good one two thumbs up.

I would say the one in the OP is different. In that it is the frusterated and angry response after your video didn't work. If you get what I am trying to say.

This is quite an amusing post as a 30+ something. I love both these songs and what they stand for.....

They both speak volumes to me and my generation. Keep them Both Alive...

Exactly. They together chronicle the hope for peace over time IMHO. First the hope then the frustation and anger.

Watcher,

I agree, it so tells the tale of what is seen. It is quite scary for some, but they do both speak to us all.

I wasn't born with enough middle fingers = one of my all time favorite lyrics. people make the mistake of thinking marilyn manson is all show and no substance. He's quite the deep lyricist actually. Thanks for the vid, that was refreshing!

Oh, he is a shock jock to be sure. Part of the reason I like him. But, he is also living proof the window dressing don't make the man. High art if you're paying attention IMHO.

Both Lennon and Manson were hated.

Here's another band who have got it right... (fan video not original)

(arg screwed up the embedded vid)

My favourite Manson song is Coma Black , Lennon song is Instant Karma...

Love Manson, many more songs of his have strong messages. AX7 and Megadeth could be here too, among others.

They both don't interest me at all. I guess everybody has different tastes but I just don't like either of them. I don't like most Manson songs because...I dunno, I just don't like them. As for Lennon, I just hate singer/songwriter stuff.

That's perfectly acceptable and you have ample right to feel that way. But, what do you think of the underlying message I am attempting to convey?

I do get what you're trying to say. John Lennon mentioned in the Give Peace A Chance Video that 'violence begets violence'. I think that's true. I can only speak for myself, but when I listen to heavy metal/thrash/violent music and lyrics, I get 'pumped up' and sometimes angry depending upon what the song is about. It's great work out music.

There is no question that music has power. It can soothe or enrage us. Ancient people knew that which is why drumming was/is so effective in achieving trance states. Our own vibrations become in sync with the vibrations of whatever music we're currently listening to at the time. That's why relaxing music relaxes us, and loud, upbeat music excites us and makes us energetic. Classical music is said to somehow improve mathematical skills. TPTB know the power of music, and I believe that they use it. I believe that angst-filled music, especially that targeted toward the youth, feeds their war machine and helps them complete their agenda. However, I do think that both videos/songs are suggesting resistance to TPTB. They're just going about it in different ways.

I think that it's pretty spot on, really. I'd agree that we need to put a stop to all division and should focus more on who we are rather than what will make us acceptable in the eyes of different factions you can encounter.

Though I'm a hypocrite because I don't really have any sort of endeavour. Therefore my words are hollow and probably far off from what you're trying to convey.

Eh I by and large disagree with the concept of a cohesive and unified TPTB...... Just as I disagree with concept of a boogie man. That, being said I do respect your opinion although I disagree with it. But this is off topic.

Huh? Why are you a hypocrite? It's easy if you don't wish to be one though.
But, that is exactly what I what I was trying to say, albeit in a different way.
