Virginia Delegates Pass Bill That Bans Chip Implants as 'Mark of the Beast'

Daniel Tencer reports in the always interesting RAW Story:

Concerns over privacy have aligned with apocalyptic Biblical prophecy in a proposed Virginia law that limits the use of microchip implants on humans because of a lawmaker’s concern that the chips will prove to be the Antichrist’s “mark of the beast.”

On Wednesday, Virginia’s House of Delegates passed a bill that forbids companies from forcing their employees to be implanted with tracking devices, a move likely to be applauded by civil libertarians. But Virginia state Del

There seems to be a definate trend in the U.S. against implanted chips. Again it doesn't really seem like an actual problem at the moment. Is this just a fad or are they anticipating/reacting to something not well known? I guess I haave trouble actually believing that there are delegates who pass legislature based upon Heavy Metal Albums (the Number of the Beast; The Mark of the Beast). These guys are really in Wonderland - I agree with the law while feelling horribly uncomfortable with where it comes from.

What??

Good grief, more pandering to the religious, in the name of our LAW.

"But Virginia state Delegate Mark Cole's reasons for proposing the law have as much to do with the Book of Revelation as they do with concerns over privacy in the digital age.

Cole says he is concerned that the implants will turn out to be the "mark of the beast" worn by Satan's minions.

"My understanding -- I'm not a theologian -- but there's a prophecy in the Bible that says you'll have to receive a mark, or you can neither buy nor sell things in end times," Cole said, as quoted at the Washington Post. "Some people think these computer chips might be that mark."

No wonder there is so much wrong in our world. When will people quit trying to force their views on other people by abusing the law?

This chip has nothing to do with a BEAST (unless that beast is our government). It has to do with money greed and control, that is it.

I wish the laws could be passed on merit alone (forced chipping is wrong) vs having to gain your support by screeching MARK OF THE BEAST YALL.

And to be honest, we live in a TECHNOCRATIC society. There is no turning back, ever. Humanity will keep growing tech wise, and it will gain momentum to the point where one day in the future (near?) humans and technology may be synonymous.

While I agree that the rather ignorant and litteral interpretation of "The Beast" leads to absurdity here... Still, I feel that in a metaphoric way, our government embodies "The Beast."

And so, in a metaphoric way, the chip IS the mark of "The Beast."

if thats the case, wouldn't forcing people to have decent credit scores also = mark of the beast...especially since the dollar is going the way of the dodo bird.

Well I can't say i'm much of a believer in abrahamic religions or even organized religion... but...I must say biblical prophecies do seem to be coming true do they not?

Hmm...Mark may be right...to have the Mark may be indeed the devil in disguise. The bible did warn us about the Mark

I wonder how Mark knows soo much about the Mark

There is something here I cant quite put my finger on.

perhaps MARK can enlighen me a bit more about the MARK...of the beast
the bible clearly warns about MARK...

Oh, absolutely! The whole focus on the material is, in a way, the impetus into "The Beast's" domain.

The mark of the beast will be David Beckhams tattoo, he is openly promoting a ficticious character to his role models?

In regards to the chip, it has been prven time and time again, no matter what law is passed the powers of this planet believe they are above them all. So if 'they' want you to get it done you will get it done, they will focus on what everyone fears most - taking away your money

I wonder if the true beast is simply the primitive nature of mankind to begin with...not some boogieman with horns, but rather our basic instincts that hold us back from becoming a more technologically and "spiritually" advanced society...
The beast does not make you jealous, greedy, angry, etc...the beast *is* jealousy, greed, wrath, etc...and is not something we have to defend from, but something we must control within ourselves.

See, if the bible seen things like that, then I would totally be on board...the angels and devils are already in you, no getting rid of them, you must learn to control them so they dont control you.

i think it's pretty screwed up you guys are suddenly not behind this because someone has taken a religious slant on it.

seriously, are you being rebellious for the sake of being rebellious? if you know anything about the entire system and reason for the microchipping, it fits perfectly in line with the biblical prophecy. watch from freedom to facism. there's no two ways about it.

but you guys get on here and bash the religious side of it... wow. you know i can see some virginia athiests, or some of you guys, leaving state and getting chipped out of spite.

un-*******-believable. this is a good thing, a very good thing, and if you think there aren't biblical implications about the microchip you are sadly mistaken.

how else would you guys ticket against this? "yeah well you see this microchip can track your every move and location, but the real idea behind it is that it controls all your money digitally. and the government can turn it on or off whenever they want without warning, making you a non-entity in a world of money and empires. yes we know that is identical to the story of the mark of the beast, but we in no way are taking a religious stand against this, just a moral one... ...oh wait."

you should be thankful they connected the dots, instead of spiteful. but it's beyond me why any ATSer wouldn't already make the connection, then be pissed about a 'religious sensationalistic reaction' to it. i'm seriously trying not to be pissed say some stupid things at you guys.

They should have made it against the law for the GOVERNMENT to require implants, not just companies...

At least we have this much of a law though, religious reasons for it or not.

You may have missed it, so dont lump me in with everyone else. I want laws based on merit (forced vs. voluntary) vs based on religion. It is called separation of church and state, and it is something I believe in as an American.

My personal religious views are not relevant, and I wont be discussing them as it is off topic.

To advocate laws based on religion, it appears you have a disregard for separation of church of state, which to me is frightening in its implications.

i see no infringement of church and state taking a stand against something that is inherently biblical. i think you need look past the entire religious aspect of the argument and realize this is a huge big government sweep of power they in no way should have, and yeah, i'm sorry, but is identical to the 'mark of the beast'.

i'm not religious at all but i can't believe you use stretch to use the 'seperation of church and state' to just make a silly stand against this. in the face of all the facts, it's just an embellished connection to make and there is nothing wrong with wanting to prevent this from happening.

That is how the cookie crumbles. Nice find.

You do realize my stance on the issue- that I am against forced chipping, and certainly advocate laws to prevent this from happening?

What a shame as a country we have have reinforce our freedoms with laws against FORCED anything.

Like this state doesn't have problems enough without this nonsense. We have a very limited legislative session and it does not need to be wasted on tripe like this.

While I understand you general point , I am forced to point out that the mark of the beast is infact mentioned in revalations in the bible, and that is the origin of the idea expanded upon by Iron Maiden and other metal bands.
I think it is also worth mentioning, that for the Christian population , this is a serious concern. Just as serious as some other religions are about C4 and tastefully tailored vests.
