can someone make up my mind or are we going to play cat and mouse all summer May 28: Some of the information cited in Attorney General John Ashcroft's warning of a possible terrorist attack comes from a largely discredited group. NBC's Lisa Myers reports.

Only you can make up YOUR mind and behave accordingly, what do you mean?

Here's mine: The text, the tone and the timing of Ashcroft's statement is known by him to be complete BS, not even supported by Homeland Security. It is the technique of the Bush admin: a package of lies, revisionism, fearmongering and media manipulation. It is tragic that this can be allowed to take place in the US, rather than the intelligence agencies going about their business of quiet investigation and removal of threatening elements.

The US is no longer a free country: it is a land of corruption, doublespeak and poor practice under the guise of a heavily branded "War On Terror". It has become a very undesirable place, until the cancer is removed. Cancer is internal.

I think the veil over the threat of terror was revealed as soon as the we came to know about the dearth of evidence regarding the threat of Iraq.

Can you trust your terrorist threat protectors when they lie to you or are so incompetent as to be completely wrong? Where are the investigations? Where are the resignations? Look at the government reaction to the extremely ridiculous situation that the U.S. has put itself in Iraq and you will figure out exactly what is going on. Absolute complacency with what they are doing and have done.

Its a lie.

I think that they just want to be careful with everything in case something does happen.

The reason they want to raise the terror threat is because the Patriot act, Bush wants the patriot act again.

The moment that Bush stole office, I knew there would be a major attack on the USA. In fact, I was posting messages on a lot of different forums warning of the danger. I felt it. Of course, that was meer common sense, to have Bush in office, after all the chaos that Bush Sr. caused in the Middle East, well, it was only a matter of time before there was a response to the son of the devil taking over the White House. And now Asscroft seems to think that we need his incite when it comes to terrorism? LOL, they know nothing about what is truly going on because they are so consumed with their own egos , unable or unwilling to empathize even a little with the Arabic community (they are so much better than the Arabs), that they are merely guessing. Bush would love nothing more than for us to have another huge terrorist attack, that's how sick they are when it comes to political gain. I think the Arabs are fully aware of this, we may be safer now than ever, however, it must be hard for the terrorists to restrain themselves, Bush has kicked sand in the face of Arabs for almost 4 years. Bush tries so hard to provoke terrorism, it's truly mind boggling as to why he does that. Is he really that stupid?

The war on terrorism is a sham and it is refreshing to see those on this thread agree and see the world they way it REALLY is! Cheers to you cats! Too many on ATS are pathetically hypnotized by the vomit spewing forth from the Pentagon, the Whitehouse, the media and every other secretly controlled insitution. They fall in line almost to the point of ridicule.

The 'war on terrorism' was cleverly created to replace that which was lost at the demise of the Soviet entity. No reason to have an absurdly outrageous military budget if there are no threats. Thus, and in sync with the New World Order agenda, a 'new' and dangerous enemy is created which not only satisfies the military-industrial clones but also soothes the ruling elites in achieving their means of complete population control in their quest for global domination. Unfortunately the USA is playing the key role in this charade!

Justification for the department of homeland security..HA! What a crock of s&%#! Every day they spew forth the rhetoric on almost every f@*&%$$ channel. I watch now just to pinpoint the countless examples of propaganda and media control.

My personal views are that since the orchestrated events of 9/11 the neo-con hawks have slowly been ramping up on their BS on the terror scene. A bombing here, Al Qaeda there, a warning here, a warning there........all to condition the public for their program. Just tonight they had Ashcroft, Mueller and some other stooge on stage with a horde of pathetic pissant so-called journalists and some fancy charts with photos of the 'bad guys'. It was then comical when Mueller abruptly moved out of the way so that everyone could see their 'chart'. How official and very convincing.!

ORWELL would be killing himself now. Newspeak, Airstrip One, it's all coming.

I agree.. I believe the war on terror was just another campaign tactic... Even though there was the 911 horror I still believe had it not happened Bush would have went into iraq on some pretense... the 911 attack just gave him a better reason.

I believe also that had Bush not been president 911 might never have happened for a lot of reasons.

Red neck cowboys in the oval office are easy to manipulate and Terrorism is a mind game after all. Think about it ....

Just like Pearl Harbor was allowed to happen to get the American public ready for war, so was 9/11.

Americans didn't want to go to war, no one did. The world was still feeling the pains of WW1. FDR knew that it would take an attack on U.S. soil to ignite the American public's need for revenge. And so did this administration. And now the propaganda is everywhere, the American War Machine is going full throttle, and the end is no where in sight. If you look at this situation a certain way, one can point out a lot of similarities between WW2 and now.

So let me get this straight. You all believe that there will never be another attack? And that the only way a person can commit a terrorist attack is if the government allows it???Good grief.I am not really for the patriot act,but you can't be naive enough to think that there are not any people out there who hate us enough to try and kill us.Read some of the hate America posts in here sometime.

Actually these days I think we are more prone to terrorist attacks then even before 9/11. With the United States sticking its hand in the hornet's nest in the Middle East and performing "prevention" invasions that turn out completely false, you are bound to make those hornets very, very angry and put them in a retaliatory mood. Conflict leads to more conflict and all that.

However, I do not expect our government to even attempt to stop another attack should it occur. It will be yet another causal force to commit to more violence in the Middle East or elsewhere to help this military agenda.
