Welcome to ATS and i am afraid that you indeed have to do another 19 posts in order to get the "full experience". So that would essentially mean that those 19 posts are not pointless......well not as pointless as the post i am typing up right now...

Welcome to ATS! I know the 19 post thing seems pointless, but it keeps ALOT of garbage off the website from random viewers. Don't worry, you'll get through it!!!

Thanks for my first ever reply, I didn't think it would come so fast!

So do all my first 20 posts have to be on this intro board or can I do replies on other boards?

The experience is filling up with every character I type!

I've been following the threads for a while now and joined up to do a particular thread, which I am now being more patient for, so apologies for my cynical OP title, hehe.

Welcome, those 19 posts are there to ensure that you are as nuts as the rest of us. We all monitor your posts and then vote to see whether you are worthy to join ATS permanently.

Hi and welcome to ATS aenti, yes you need 20 posts before you can start your own thread. You can post reply's to any thread in any forum you wish.
That how ever is not permission to make one line off topic posts of, " me too" or "I agree".

There is no rush take your time, look around and reply to posts that you do have opinions or would like to comment on.

Once you have reached 20 posts you will be able to send & receive U2U's (messages) to and from the membership. At present your U2U capability is limited to staff only.

I'm in the same boat as you. Trying to reach my 20. This will make number 8 for me. *sigh*

I suppose I could just start typing pointless junk on random threads, but for some reason I feel that would defeat the purpose. Since I would like to be taken seriously, and the fact that it would annoy the crap out of me if someone did that to one of my threads, I suppose I will stick to topics that interest me and I have something worthwhile to say about.

Ah well, everybody is being very kind about it and giving me posts to reply to, which is nice. Plus I put a winking face so you know, that counteracts my cynicism right??? No? Damn... ?

Fantastic question too... a great way to increase up to 20 posts... that's if I could narrow my interest down to just one particular subject! Hehe.
What about you Sonick621 - anything in particular? And Umbra - any speciality for yourself?

Not that anybody is wondering... but for those with a keen eye my #05 post was a meeting the creator! The creator of ATS that is, Simon. He seems nice. Apparently some people got closer than they may think when uncovering his mysterious origins!

I came to ATS to return to a lot of subject i had read about in my early teens (i love to read) .... and i wanted to see how far advanced the subjects had progressed .

UFO`s particularly ... still hold a fascination for me .Even though any form of solid evidence is hard to come by . I also enjoy anything related to psychology ..... (which is just about everything really)

I'll join you with an interest in Ufology and psychology. So how have you actually found the progression you were saying about?

Interesting point about the hard evidence. I just noticed that the '[HOAX]' forum has a picture of Billy Meir as it's icon, hehe. I'm now presuming his alleged hard evidence has been debunked? From memory - rock samples, and, alien hand print on a car bonnet.

Myself? Other topics that I could fairly say stand out a little above the rest would be Crop Circles, metaphysics, esotericism, occultism... Although I wouldn't ever limit my interest too much because it never seems to stop changing and developing.

But my first thread I'm planning will be in the Aliens/UFO board!

They had better not be pointless. You are to pour you soul into every post that you do and we will know unequivocally if you haven't. We will dissect every word and our team of analysts will determine if you are not taking this seriously. We mean business here and its high time you find that out.

Unfortunately I too find myself in the boat of trying to reach 20 posts. However I am not sure where I am at and was wondering if some of the more experienced members could give me some insight.
I actually did not realize there was this 20 post rule until today because the first thread I started was in the breaking alternative news. I think ATS allowed me to start a thread there, because I have gotten replies so I know other members have seen it. Then when I tried to start a thread in breaking political news it would not let me start a thread there.
Do my threads in breaking alternative news count as posts? and where can I go to find out how many posts I have altogether?
