Whoops: Palin advocates war with Iran, apparently misreading column

rawstory.com

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has always tried to portray herself as tough on national security.

On Sunday, however, Palin may have taken it too far. Speaking to Fox News' Chris Wallace, the onetime Republican vice presidential nominee signaled that she supported war with Iran, referring to a recent online column by conservative Pat Buchanan.

"Say he played, and I got this from Buchanan, reading one of his columns the other day," Palin quipped. "Say he played the war card. Say he decided to declare war on Iran, or decided to really come out and do whatever he could to support Israel, which

I wonder if exgov. Palin actually wants war to fulfill biblical prophesy and the interpretation of Revelations that most right wing fundamentalist usually believe? It never ceases to amaze me how politicians are so willing to send other peoples sons and daughters into war while theirs stay safe and sound in some highclass university.

Nailed it in one.

What I do only matters if it impacts me and mine....casualities to you and yours are deemed acceptable.

a) I don't like when Sarah calls a potentially tremendously tragic event bound to take millions of lives "playing a war card". That's just too lighthearted, and/or cold-hearted at the same time.

b) I took time to listen to the clip and yes, she did screw up that reference to Buchanan's line.

If she decided to "support" something, that "something" is likely to be wrong.

Until something like Virginia Tech happens, then all of a sudden they'll look for the most convenient scapegoat (Goths, Koreans, Guns, etc) to take their revenge out on. Politicians never change, they want War so much they can go and fight it.
No armed escorts, Black Op Snipers covering the ground, make them fight TRUE hand-hand combat so they can get a taste of what its like everytime they smirk signing up yet another 2000 to go to war.

what an idiot.
she's stuck her foot in her mouth so many times it's like she's the love child of george w bush and dan quayle.

I don't see the appeal. Anyone who supports palin is as dumb as she is. bring the flames, I'll take all challengers to that statement. I don't expect em to bring much.

Spooky.

Palin could have been VP. > McCain could have had a heart attack and died. > Palin could be Pres.

Does anyone want the most powerful position in the world held by a semi-literate redneck?

Is the US really so hard up for what is considered viable political candidates?

Looks like it.

And since you clipped the snippet so it would seem she was advocating war with Iran, I will post the entire quote so others can see the blatant MISREPRESENTATION of what she said!

"Say he played, and I got this from Buchanan, reading one of his columns the other day," Palin quipped. "Say he played the war card. Say he decided to declare war on Iran, or decided to really come out and do whatever he could to support Israel, which I would like him to do. But that changes the dynamics in what we can assume is going to happen between now and three years."

Deny ignorance!

Show me where she stated she advocated war with IRAN.

She was referring to what Buchanon said!

Jeeez!

edit to add-

Maybe this thread should be placed in the HOAX bin.

I think I will ask the Mods to verify that it is a HOAX!

And her son POSSIBLY involved in an ALLEGED incident has WHAT to do with anything?

I once moved hundreds of roadsigns before a July 4th weekend and that would have what to do with THIS?

Attack on REAL issues and I will back it.

I feel Palin is being used to detract the REAL movement against the government oligarchy and will back any TRUE presentation to that FACT.

Otherwise all this is, is just another way to divide us into the Dem and Repub camps.

That is enough on this subject.

If fear a few things:

1) That the pre-emptive war doctrine was ever accepted, and it's far easier to dismiss others, bomb them, invade them, continue covert operations than to actually have to deal with those different than us.

2) That Palin isn't being looked at rationally and her policies analyzed and discussed. This is very similar to the situation we found ourselves in with Bush and with Obama.

Rationality and discussing policy/actions has all but disappeared on the American landscape.

3) That Palin will be considered as a reasonable candidate for any office above one she has already held.

4) That Palin will be considered a voice of "true conservatism" or of the "libertarian right" or even "the true GOP planks".

She is nothing of the sort.

War with Iran is foolish in the extreme, although I have no doubt it'll happen within the next decade. Oil is a serious issue for the future, and I believe we will continue gathering fuel for the American consumption machine at the end of a gun.

I did not realize Palin has a son serving in the military. Kudos to him for that service.

I still stand by my original statement, which was made about politicians in general. Its a lot easier to do anything, be it war, health care, education, whatever when it doesn't directly impact you.

I have several relative in theater and I find both wars to be police actions.

Exactly like I said, police actions. These are not wars. You fight wars with nations, not individuals or ideas.

The first time I heard we were fighting AQ, I knew it to be a farce.

One cannot fight an idea. Which is why I believe this WHOLE crappola to be dreamed up in some CFR meeting.

It is the PERFECT excuse to police any country they find to be economically nonviable to the elitist agenda.

Could this just be semantics? You say police tactics, I say war? That's not an attack, by the way, but an honest question.

Or perhaps you mean we aren't at war with the Iraqi nation, but with the terrorist group? If so, that makes sense and I see your point.

" have several relative in theater and I find both wars to be police actions." I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean. What theater? Maybe I'm reading it wrong, if so I apologize.

As to an elitist agenda, I agree with you there....

Why do people still listen to and interview this moron ???

If she wants to be involved in politics why did she flake out on Alaska ??

and this is the person some would like to see as president, a person who flaked on the responsibility's she already had.

How could someone so stuuuuupid get as far as she did ??

These things just boggle my mind.
I guess I have more questions then answers.

I guess the fact that someone as ( R-word) as this could get so far in politics only shows how stupid americans are for supporting her.

no wonder she's so against the (R-word) I guess they have to stick together.

Great...In the White House a bumbling idiot was replaced by a smooth talking idiot, and if this *crap* keeps up were going to have another bumbling idiot in the white house in 2012.

War? are you kidding? Do you think the USA can afford another war? Why are they even trying to implant the idea that were going to attack Iran?

The Dumb rule us all, and yes... we should panic.

Well what I mean by police action is that we are not at war. They keep calling it that because WAR can be legitimate. Where as police action is exactly that, we are acting as the police to the world. Have you heard that we are giving Miranda Warnings in the field now?

As for in theater, I mean they are in the conflict either in Iraq or Afghan. Of course they might be heading for the new police action locale of Venezuela, Iran, or Yemen.

In theater is a military euphemism for in conflict.

Now Iraq was a legal war, but now it has become a police action. We will never pull out of that country now.

We are there for good. Just as the other 700 military bases in 130 countries around the world.
