Good luck learning anything with a belief that theres nothing to know. So now we know that murders and rapisits that commit their crimes to make themselves "happier" are on the corrrect path.... hell why would wallstreet executive stop stealing money if nothing else matters but their hapiness???? o well......

the truth is only subjective to those with limited perspective.

I read your posts in various threads frequently, and I am usually dismayed with the amount of negativity that you exhibit. I'm not bashing you or anything, just acknowledging your perspective on life and on others, that of distraught unhappiness. To correct things, I do not believe there is nothing to learn, I have only changed my focus from trying to learn the impossible, and turned it towards spreading joy in this truly messed up world we live in. But remember, whether or not a single human wakes up in the morning on either side of the world, the sun will still rise, and will still be as beautiful as ever. Even if no one is there to see it.

I was going to say something similar, but you beat me to it. If happiness is our only goal in life, we're entirely screwed as a social being. Do as you will, is basically an immoral stance.

I think it best to balance knowledge with wisdom. Head with heart. Truth with happiness.

The "truth" only seems negative to somone with unrealistic preconceptions about reality. You might think that saying freewill, soul, and god do not exist is negitive, but thats normal. A child is sad when you tell them santa isnt real.

Sadly, this statement proves what I have already said, that those in power have exploited the human need for material things and made it the sole purpose of most people. Humans associate happiness with having whatever they need, being abundant in everything they want, not needing anything. This is not really happiness. That's not to say that someone who is rich cannot be happy, or that someone who is poor is always happy. It just means that material gain is not the cause of happiness for the human soul. A foolish man may only discover this on his deathbed, having lived an empty life void of any real happiness. A wise man will have discovered this early on, and die a fulfilled life. You see, this is what happiness is. It is a measurable emotion, yes. But it is more than just a chemical in the body. It is letting go of oneself and caring for others as well as yourself. It is a deep understanding of humanity and learning to accept life, and death.

Edit to add:
I agree that you must have a balance of knowledge and wisdom, head and heart, truth and happiness. Well said.

S&F OrphenFire, very open minded, and a very brave post if you ask me. I am happy for you that you have lost your fear of death, which as we know, is the reward for a long and fruitful life. I have lost my fear of death too, past life regression did that for me, seeing myself die a few dozen times, is various bloody and terrible ways, the death I look forward to is easy compared with those.

A quest for happiness is a good endeavour, and a strong path to go on, my friend. Not only personal happiness, but the same for all around you. You are truly a Service to Others man, and that in itself makes you tops in my book. There are only two kinds of people really, you either serve others, or serve yourself. There is no grey area.

If everyone was like this, Earth would be a peaceful world. I have raised a son and a daughter, both are grown now. The girl has a three year old of her own. I taught them well, about everything, stuff you may hear me speak about here in this forum. I am now raising two more boys, my new wife had them when we got together. They are good boys, but tend to run really fast from any real wisdom and higher knowledge. Turn on the history Channel, and they leave the room. I guess it must be genes, I can accept that.

I have led a full and happy life for the most part, I have partied hearty for a good many years without any bad wrecks, arrests, of health problems. I have spent 38 years fixing and repairing other people's cars, so I do happen to think I deserve a nice full custom car now, and that will soon come. I have a lovely young wife who loves me for who I am, not for what I look like, or what is in my bank account. She was basically uneducated when I met her, but she has a very open mind which I truly appreciate. Not every woman could stand to live with someone such as I. I have had some accidents, and have been hurt, but hey! I can still walk a mile on most days, climb stairs, bend down to pick up something, drive for several hundred miles at a time, and can still do the wild thing too, twice a night on a good day.

I hardly drink alcohol anymore, a beer now and then is all, and hate the drugs I am forced to take. I still partake, and am in pretty good health. I have a lot to be grateful for, which I am grateful. I give thanks over each meal, and always have one. I taught my son how to repair cars, now he keeps my van in tip top shape, and it gets really good mileage. V-8 power too.

I have read a great many books, and I am so thankful to all of the good writers out there, and the ones who told the truth even though people scorned them. You have all taught me a great many things, which I deem it necessary to impart on others.

So yes, I am ready to go. don't think i will die though, I think those who are my people have something better in mind, and have been kind enough to show me a little preview. (Thanks!)

I think I can state on good authority that your wife will be waiting for you when you get there, along with all of the rest of your wives, husbands, aunts uncles, parents, friends...and even pets. Something we are never taught by our churches is this. The other side has many facets. "In my house are many mansions" ring any bells? Simply put, what you think is. You get what you want without any delay. Think of an orange, one will appear in your hand, ready to peel, and eat. Everyone you love and wish to be with you will be, but of course the same goes for them, a person may be close in your reality, but you are not in theirs. We are always protected, always loved, always watched over. Even the aliens treat our Spirits like we would treat God. Our bodies are another matter.

Good thread, anyone else have something to say?

Soon that will be gone.... i truely pitty you and the suffering you are about to face. This delusion is going to be stripped from you... and all that you focused on will become like a mirage..

Watch as those around you who believed in that fairytale choose to sink into the ground and wish for dirt to cover them. O the time you have wasted on fantasy..... so many will wish for death.

I want to get happiness through peace, and peace through happiness. I want to spread happiness to others, so they can feel the same peace and happiness that I want to achieve. With all of that, I hope, will come truth.

I sound like a hippy.

Leave them to there beliefs, if they leave you to yours. If they die, and there is no heaven, well there out of luck... but there's no sadness once you die. You won't feel anything, you'll just be non-existence, so it is impossible to feel sad. You just cease. You'll be nothing. You couldn't even think, so you wouldn't be thinking about how it sucks that there is no heaven. That is, if your theory provides true.

You have as much proof as her on your theory. Quit telling others what is right or wrong to believe. Let them believe what they want, untell they confront you. If they confront you about your believes, by all means, tell them what you believe an why, but being rude to people just breeds more rudeness. This is what causes this whole atheist/christian hate.

I am going to live the best life I can, and be a good person, not to get into some heaven that may or may not be there, but to help society.

If there is an afterlife... I hope I go to the good place, if not I am gone, and there is nothing to worry about.

I tell you truly you have two choices in life.

1. You can pursue truth.

2. You can pursue happiness.

You can never have both. Never.

Truth, just as Deceit, is unavoidable. Your truth will come no matter the pursuit.

Recognizing AND accepting Truth is a whole different story though.

May your journey be fruitful.

Wertdagf, it's okay that you are instigating arguments with your perspective and opinion. A good argument always helps those involved to open their minds. But these things cannot be argued, because everything of the current subject matter is abstract and uncertain. Unless of course you have some greater enlightenment you would like to share with us that proves your beliefs 100%?

If you want to know the truth when you die, I hope you are conscious.
Are you conscious when you sleep at night? Just saying. I am not and I have been at it for some time now.

What if there is no truth, nothing after death?
I am not saying that is what I believe but it is a possibility.
I have been having this discussion lately with a friend who plans on dying soon.
I choose to believe there is conscious existence beyond death of the physical vehicle but hey, there may not be.

Oh and PS: The choice to be happy a good one IMO.

PEACE & STUFF!

Yeah man its hard at first, but its all about living now. Cant change the past, and you can't continuously long for the future. Happieness is living for today without worrying. Truth, or figuring out every facet of reality is impossible. If you set the unattainable you will set yourself up to fail. Live, love, and take everything in stride. No matter what happens in life if your living for today you will do alright. Maybe I am writing this for myself as much as you. Love is the answer. Rain or shine love the gift of whatever experiences occur. A woman a lotta smarter than me told me once that everything is a gift. Hard times are a gift. Good times are a gift. To some other posts: negativity is addicting. I know trust me. What it really boils down to is safety. The ego conciousness is afraid of change. It actually fears happieness bc it is unused to it. Negativity towards everything becomes ingrained into thought processes. It starts to occurr without realizing it. I still have this problem, but I am better than I used to be. Best way to get past it is being thankfull for everything good in your life. Recgonize that good and bad are relative terms that are only thoughts. Nothing more. Thoughts. Thoughts can change. Remember the power of the mind is amazing.
Death is just one part of a greater life. We move from body to body to learn what we need to learn. Each person is somewhere on their journey. Some lives are hard, but that is part of learning. Sometimes we ram our heads against life, and that is what is neccesary at that time for us. Never forget everything is a gift....

Well then according to your own logic every topic about religion or mysticism is un-argueable because you cant prove it 100%. We have the confirmation of a fractal universe, human AI, and alien contact right around the corner........ and all you can say is that i have NO legs to stand on.

I dont see an news reports about seeing jesus flying around in the sky on a cloud... I dont see editorials on how the hand of god reached out of the sky and smote the wicked. Yet we get advancement in computer technology and human genome all the time. All of the movement is towards what i have spoken... and still to you it has no relevence....

What you have is denial. I do pitty you trying to hold onto you delusions in such a world. Atleast you heard it here first... you have time to prepare youself.

If you truely want to find truth it is simple.

Find the love in every moment, for the love is the moment.

Sorry I have not replied. Been busy (being happy and all [just kidding lol]).

Anyway, my point to you is that your method of argument is that of self-supposed infallibility. You hold no room for speculation about anything that you do not already believe in. Of course we can and should argue and discuss topics of things like conspiracies, UFOs, theoretical science, etc, but not religious or personal beliefs. If you believed that when you die, you will become a god and have all the powers of the cosmos at your disposal, heralding the coming of Galactus or something, I wouldn't attempt to destroy your opinion in this. I have no proof that you will not become the Silver Surfer just as you have no proof that you will (unless you do... do you??) Do you see my point? I'm trying to reason with you here.
