Looks a lot like the channel crabs here, except ours are more orangish. The carapace might be ten inches across.

Here's something related - camoflagued octopus

That will be my favourite clip towards how amazing these creatures are - ever. I almost posted it myself tonight, when trying to find a certain cuttlefish video I know of - in an aquarium and someone shows it a picture of a completely different cuttle#, - this little fella look at it, gets startles, changes colour to match the one in the photo and freezes.. I mean, he was saying "Who are you - This is MY area!!" and as far as I was concerned, was barking at the photo..

This is a dumb link, I'd rather post a full clip but this is all I can get.

cuttlefish

from that at least I hope people will get the idea these things are darned smart!!!

I hope..

:/

They are also the major share holders in the US Federal reserve. By way of the Bank of England and other entities they own.

I wonder whats the agenda.
This corporation is owned by the rothschilds

Maybe they found the underwater equivalent of bigfoot, and just released this to cover for it. So they could say, "If we found that, don't you think we would show it, considering we took the time to show you THIS?"

Just a thought. Who knows.

I wonder if anyone has ever set up a tank in their house with an octopus, only to find the thing crawling around the home in the middle of the night.

There was a show put out on one of these science channels that projected that in 80,000 years us human would be gone, and octopus had taken over the planet. This seems like a realistic possibility. They can survive at extreme depths in the ocean, and out of water.

Considering their amazing capacity at camouflage, what capabilities could a such a species have with a long life span. There might be a highly advanced civilization of octopus that lives beyond our ability to detect them.

Here is an interesting link.

www.octopus.com...

The Giant Pacific Octopus can weigh up to 600 pounds. Could you imagine this thing climbing onto your boat.

That pic reminds of the book 'Rama' where Crablike Machines were found living on 'Rama'.... that close up makes it look super huge though...

This guy's at the same time amazing and a little frightening. Just gives me the feeling that I wouldn't want to run into one of these.

It's amazing how much we don't know about our oceans. And especially considering the size of this creature, what else haven't we seen yet?

Very Lovecraftian. Always a fan.

I'd like to snap one of those nasty legs off of that thing. Let it know real quick that I'm boss, Milkmustache is never out of his element.

There is an argument in the scientific community with regards to Viruses. Are they living or non-living? This organism looks as if it has evolved from a virus into a squid, just look at the hexagonal structure of the long "legs," just like a virus has in order to attach itself onto cell membranes. It looks as if it's a large scale bacteriophage or T4 virus, interesting.

Indeed, but I am allways skeptic.

Sometimes fact is stranger then fiction

That is why I don't believe in fiction. Fiction to me is a word that describes what is not available in our world alone, but for sure is available somewhere else.

And I am sure there are too many things in our planet, might as well be in our oceans, that we are not aware of - just like that really freakish creature there. Who know what other horrendous creatures exist on Earth and we don't even know - and no one will show us.

I think it's beautiful. Graceful, even. A curious creature that is capable of quick-time superspeeds underwater, and one that can easily harvest its own food. It's superadapted. It is the badger analogue to the underwater world. Perhaps it has nothing left to do except develop its cognative powers.
