Designer clothing, bulletproof!

Check it out -- apparently, you can make clothing that both looks stylish AND is bulletproof - this tailor in Bogota is apparently running a successful business and periodically shoots his employees to ascertain the quality of gear that they make. Amazing! Watch the video, the journalist also get shot in the end.

This sounds very intriguing. Well, I think we're going to need more of this now.

It does sound rather cool; at last, something to stop the random mad men shooting people in shopping malls.

In Sweden only police and guards can buy vests.. unfair.

Has anyone including this guy stopped to think about the ramification something like this might have? As if these clothes are only falling into the hands of law abiding citizens, military and government officials. What about the hundreds of drug dealers who might be purchasing or acquiring this stuff? And so we have a whole society walking around in bullet proof clothing.......so what? Then bullets are designed to penetrate this clothing? Then what? And what's to stop someone from shooting someone in the head? Does it not bother anyone that this guy sells these articles of clothing in one of the most corrupt and drug infested countries on Earth? Yeah let's have a world where everyone walks around in bullet proof clothing and carries guns.

Human beings are very stupid nowadays. I create clothing that can stop a bullet......the next guy creates a bullet that penetrate it and the sad circus continues.

This world needs a good world war to wipe out some of the stupid people that are inhabiting it.

One thing that used to be great about America is we as citizens didn't have to worry about going to the "movie theatre" wearing a bullet proof vest weary of being shot. I guess things are different in Bogota. Why doesn't their government crack down on drug trafficking, gun violence and put people away for the rest of their life if they kill someone with a weapon or legislation like that.

The militarisation of humanity is really really scary.

What you have posted here is the main problem in my view.

Making ANYTHING illegal, only causes these problems.

How did prohibition work? How is that drug war working? How about the increase in gun violence in countries that have made guns illegal?

Do not EVER try to fix a problem by attacking a symptom, you have to attack the cause of the problem.

Sorry, the make believe history of the wild west is exactly that, make believe.

When everyone had guns, stupid fights and the like DID NOT occur. Also, anyone attempting crime knew that EVERYONE had a gun. So crime was not a big problem.

As the old saying goes, take guns from law abiding citizens and the only ones with them are crooks.

To tell you the truth the Police and Army Personel have had kevlar jackets & vests for ages so i dont see why this shouldn't be easily transfered into everyday wear... there's plenty of people who get shot in the street!!

Again, nothing new. Any "bulletproof vest" only stops small arms fire, and non-armor-piercing bullets. But at least most guns that people own and can easily buy can't penetrate that. I doubt you can legally buy armor-piercing ammo anyway. And it's probably traceable in any case.
