Actually, they're not better armed than the American citizens. The American public owns nearly 300 million firearms and a virtually bottomless supply of ammunition, which is more than all branches of the U.S. government and military combined.

Actually, the American public arsenal far surpasses the firearms stockpiles of most nations on Earth. In addition, the number of retired military personnel in the American public sector far outnumbers the active duty personnel in the U.S. military. So, the American public has more guns and more experienced personnel to use them.
