if ambient energy from rfid powers devices and a networking system is capable of allowing access from the chip then i would think about getting it. but the advertised benefits of having it are not justifiable reason alone for getting the chip.but in truth the tech is there for your body to power devices without an rfid.

I'll be the first to say that I don't know much about medical procedures...but to the untrained eye it looked as if that doc was putting on a show...

anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

I sure as hell will NEVER get one of those suckers put in me! Not willingly, anyways! I wonder how much more of these things RFID ads will be popping up in the near future. It is so obviously a ploy to make them look innocent. The way they show the thing being implanted, the kid endorsing it...oh look how quickly it went in! Oooh! Puh lease. Besides, if you are going to have a card in your wallet saying you have the chip, why not just put your medications on the card in your wallet?!

It looked to me like that whole family was putting on a show!

Can I ask why you wouldn't get one of these?

Great point about the card there...and I'm glad that I'm not the only one that realized the farce Miss Katie helped put on.

I will never get one of these things for the simple fact that I will have no idea what is being put into me. I have not gotten a vaccine since I have been old enough to decide for myself, I only take aspirin or cough medicine when I absolutely need it. I am just plain not a fan of putting things in my body that I'm not sure what is in them.

The only place that rule falls by the wayside is with food. I love me some hormone injected red meat.

I don't like the idea of being able to be tracked. I don't want to be catalogued like a piece of meat! I see no reason for one these things being needed other than for control purposes! Can I ask why you ask? I mean, would you like to have one of these chips? And if so, why?

Agree completely. I haven't taken any vaccines other than the ones my parents took me to get as a kid. Maybe I am paranoid but I just don't trust anything like that. While I don't like red meat, I'm all for hormone filled chicken. MMmmmmm hormone addled grilled chicken salad with a nice chemically enhanced dressing.

Well firstly they can't track you.

As to why I ask, well because putting aside the fear mongering and conspiracy theories their purpose can be useful for such people as alzheimer patients who go wondering about.

A simple scan of their arm will give whoever finds them a name to identify them with, it will also provide information on any medical conditions someone may have.

I agree that they can not currently track us, but I truly think that is the next step.

Like MSC said, why not just a card in the wallet...Yea I know we may not always have our wallet on us, but still.

Bringing up the Alzheimer point, I'd find it rather...I guess cruel is the best word...to put something in the body of someone who wouldn't be aware of it later on. that is, of course, conceding that they did not agree to it earlier.

Saying all of that, I think that if you wish to have this, go for it. I just don't think it should be mandatory, and that show they put on was just that, a show. I know it was early morning tv, but why not show the little cut, with a little warning for those who are a little squeamish. I've seen instances like that on local news.

Sure they could track you. They wouldn't tell you everything. I can definitely see the pros of having one of these things. Especially if you have conditions, are elderly, etc.... but for me personally, no thanks. Guess I'm too paranoid. But hey, in the end, when the mothership beams me up or I go through that tunnel of light to those pearly gates I won't set off the detectors. Cause let's face it, those things ARE annoying.

For you people that think you can't be tracked by RFID implants?

You're wrong. Big DUH folks.

Of course they can, and will track you - and already do.

There are already RFID chips used my the Mexican Association for Robbed and Missing Children used in kids to track them up to what 150 kilometers.

Too bad the idiots don't realize the chip can be removed easily. With a knife for example.

Nice that huh.

(I'd include a link but I can't find it - read in Wired from a Mexican site)...

peace

I applaud your efforts in urging us to be open-minded on this issue. Even conspiracy theories need balance from time to time to ensure they contain reason and logic. Your points about the benefits it would bring to those suffering Alzheimers is a very valid one. It is true there is potential for benefits in examples such as these.

I am just worried about where this might lead. The RFID chips start off in smaller populations for good reasons - like the example you gave. But when this becomes mainstream, what happens to everyone else? The integration of man and computer will be heading in a scary direction. We might reach a point where deciding not to have an RFID chip will result in ridicule and exclusion from society.

Some people will be thinking "but look at the Internet and how most of the world has adapted to it and welcomed it in their lives!" The difference is that the Internet, currently, remains a separate entity from people. When RFID chips become common and turn mainstream, we will become more like computers and less like humans.

lol get the chips in ya then I can walk around with my scanner and laptop and get all your details by .....standing next to you.
No difference to the 'new' credit cards. Unsecured data and on top of that if they add scanners like credit card terminals at every light post (hidden or visible) for example then they can track you and your exact movements better than any satellite cam can.

Also once this was main stream then the push would be to add your credit card number ...and every other personal data onto it to be more 'efficient'...and then go as far as making laws that state unless you have one you cant board a flight due to the fact you could be a terrorist hiding something.
Then the argument would be if you have nothing to hide then you wouldn't worry about having one.....
i can see it now.

Wow. These types of things were written about 2,000 years ago as being of the utmost evil, and some people still consider receiving them!
"mark of the beast" ring any bells?!

I guess Paul was right when he mentions some as "objects of wrath" created for this very purpose.
