They also had with the Parachutes the thick leather flying jackets I bet they didn't have them as backups as well.

With the primitive flack jackets, electrically heated suits, thick warm clothing, oxygen mask, and over sized helmet with head phones, they waddled around like penguins. If they had time, they would want to shed as much as the sh#t as possible before jumping.
