I just wanted to share with you something that happened yesterday 29 Jan 2010 at around 5.30 PM (17.30).
I live in Stockholm, Sweden in northern Europe and by this time a year it gets dark quite early (although the days are starting to get longer again).
Right now there are quite a lot of snow and thus the ground is white and lights the dark up a bit.
My wife was driving home after some shopping at around 17.30 last night (it was dark already) and when she was almost home and drove into the road
that leads to where we live (the road has quite a lot of houses on the lefthand-side with an open area in front of the houses where people park their
cars and a small forest on the righthand-side) she had to slow down since she saw a dog on the righthand-side of the road, ie. the side where the
forest is.
Now, it is quite common that dogowners take their dogs for a stroll in the forest so this wasnt unusual at all, so she slows down to let the dog pass.
My wife thought the owner maybe was at the other side of the road towards the houses.
It is now she realizes that the "dog" doesnt really seem to be a dog, just shadow-like. I asked her what she meant when she told me this morning and
she said that at that place there are streetlights, but she couldnt make out any feature of the "dog", it was just like shadows.
The "dog" went over the road, "almost with a floating motion", she said and went over to the left-side.
My wife had slowed down the car, but now continued on and she looked to the left for the dogowner and the dog....
...but there was NO trace AT ALL of the dog that just went over the road into the open area and of course no owner, just the empty area for parked
cars.
A couple of seconds had only passed since the "dog" passed over the road.
I asked her whether it could have been a fox or similar or even a trick of the light, but she was certain that the doglike shadow passed in front of
her car.
Last year a stray wolf for some reason went as far south as the northern suburbs of Stockholm and was killed by a car and we speculated that maybe
this was something similar, but I am really unsure about this.
I would guess that a wolf would look like a dog of course, but then you probably would be able to see the shape, tail etc. and not just shadows.
I have no idea what this was and just wanted to share this with you to see whether anyone has seen something remotely similar, maybe in Sweden, maybe
somewhere else.
Thanks,
K
