Norway Spiral on rejected NASA mission patch?

I was browsing through some NASA mission patches, and rejected mission patches. One rejected mission patch caught my eye. Couldnt grasp the concept of adding an image to my post, so heres the link.

That's pretty interesting, the stonehedge one is also kinda cool too.

I'd say it represents a spiral galaxy.

You do realize that our galaxy is a spiral disk shape, right?

Everything in nature is based on spirals.

But there are other spiral galaxies aren't there?

All galaxies are spirals.

All galaxies have a super-massive black hole in the center. The blackhole causes the mass of the galaxy to spiral, like water going down a drain.

Not all galaxies are spiral,you have disc shaped eliptical but i agree on the fact that on the patch we are looking at a spiral galaxy
and not seen from Earth but from the Moon,and the reason they were rejected is because that means there would be structures on the Moon,well at least thats what iv read somewhere a while back.

This patch was rejected because it depicts the ruins on the Moon... Which was obviously unacceptable for NASA. And it doesn't show the Norway spiral, but the Milky Way Galaxy.

Did astronauts think or see this to propose this patch ?

Well the first one (left image) is stone henge, with what looks to be the moon above, and the sun in the centre. Maybe something to do with the solstice?

The second one (right image) is a little harder. It's certainly stone henge so it'd have to be earth, the 'spiral' is a galaxy in my opinion. I just can't think what the vertical line is in the centre of the image??

A space elevator??



I'd imagine the designs had to depict the moon in some form as that would've been the primary objective back then.

Seriously, why would stone henge be anywhere near a NASA patch? I can't see any reason they would include it in a possible patch design. It really makes no sense?!?!?!

The insignia that was used is far better anyway. It includes the spiral too:
