Which one are you?

The way i see it is that you have those that think and those that simply just are.
What i mean by this is you can not be one and the other together.

If you just are, Simply being, then you are not thinking. Your existing inside the moment simply observing and partaking in the experience.

It is when your in the experience and you being to question the expeience rather than enjoying it that you begin to think.

Then you are a thinker...

so are you a thinker or are you just being?

Surely if someone has the cognitive ability to reply to your post, they are by your very definition, a thinker. I think you have unwittingly ruined your own poll.

You can only just be to about the age 2. then you inevitbly think. Although some have gotten rid of the ego, its a difficult task.

If I could just be in the moment then I would be doing exactly what would save me alot of suffering.

We are well conditioned to have alot useless mind chatter.

Thinking and striving is alot of misery. People do alot of work to just be which ironically, as I understand, turns out to require nothing. All the fuss is an internal struggle against it.

We can be both, but not at once.

If you don't strive, you starve, then you are neither thinking nor being.

It depends on what "starve" means. If you mean I must maintain a physical body and thus cannot simply "be" for the totality of my time, then yes, "I" starve. If you think I am only the physical body, then I will cease to be when I starve. If I cease to be then it follows that I cannot think.

If you are being then you never strive nor starve imho. You float and linguer allowing the forces within you to guide you. You always find a place to eat because your are constantly connecting with others.

A thinker.

Although 'thinking about it', i have on occasion just 'been'. Especially after a hot curry.

No, really - i think you can be both a 'thinker' and not quite as deep a thinker, although not at precisely the same time.

Most people can be both. You must be in the 'thinking camp' to have offered the question, but you must also have had times or moments where you could have been put into 'the non - thinking camp', you know - the times of extreme boredom, or tiredness, or just one of those moments where your tongue hangs out, and you stare into space.

I know i have experienced those moments, but also moments of deep concentration and contemplation too.

As for thinking being hard, i find it stimulating rather than difficult or hard. Having said that, i think a lot depends on one's level of interest in what one is thinking about that governs whether a subject is difficult to think about or not. If you have zero interest in a subject, the chances are that just thinking of it would be somewhat of a chore. And visa-versa.

Yeah i see what your saying but the being im referring to is more deeper than that.

It is an awakening of the spirt. A connection to a pure source untamperred and uncontaminated. It changes your whole life. You shift to another state of consciousness. One of bliss where every action become that of a force higher than yourself.

When you are being in that state there are no self generated thoughts only images to absorb.
